queeting an extension of the telephone
system. After tench discussion it was
decided to interview the Bell Tele-
phone Co. And obtain their chargee
and terms fur connection before build-
ing. A line up the base line also was
discussed. Bylaw No. 3, 1011, fixing
the amount to be spent by each road
commissioner at MI, and $75 extra
for hese line, was read and pawed.
The Reeve reported that the township
solicitor bad been succewaful in having
three persons taken front the het of
those in the asylums who were main-
tained from our railway taxes, thus
saving the township over $9/0 per year.

Smith. of theMauble line, met with a
scrimp' and almost fatal accident on
Setirlay morning last. While at-
tempting to lead a hull, which he had
sold, the animal got Inca• and tinned
on Mr. Smith, toaring him in the air
and throwing him on the ground
in a perfect fury. Mrs. Smith
with the help of the dog was able to
distract the animal's attention until
the wounded man managed to crawl

His injuries are not carious, but very
painful. three riga. heing broken, his
leg cut and many bruises on his body.

The fire, which orginated in the tip
story, had galued considerable head-
w,oy before bring noticed and. fknned
by a strong northeast wind, the fire-
men had considerable difficulty in cot-
finiug it to the upper stories.
With five etreamr of water playing
on the building for over an hour the
tire way got under control, hut not he-
fore the law office of F. Holtuated, the
dental office of 1)r. Fisher and the
offices of Edge & Gutteridge, contrac-
ture, were completely gutted and the
grocery stock of W. R. Smith and the
drug and stationer- stock of Alex.
