Christian Dead -heads.
Dat.das Banner.
The ministers work unselfishly gen-
erally, and hays no say with the
church boards in the business or the
amount of reuruner-ation they are to
get. In this respect they •lifter' 1row
every other workman. It is the rec-
ognized right of every free man that
he negotiate his own terms. Salaries
are low et this tithe when living is so
high. and it is a wonder to many of us
how the minister can support a fam-
ily, dress himself and give to every-
thing that cornea along in season and
out of season and not complain. The
deficiencies are largely from the
country, and, while many church sup-
porters do their utmost to lay by as
Providence has prospered them, there
are so tnany dead -heads carried on in
our Christian nation that the present
situation has developed. Do we con-
tribute as much sacrifice, with all our
modern comforts and pleasures, as did
the sturdy, worthy and honest
pion-ers of this country-?
