Hockey Notes. •
The Gederlch hockey Warn will play
its first game of the season at Clinton
on Tuesday nett. The full schedule of
games for the season has not yet been
finally arranged.
'At a sleeting of the 0. 1i. A, sub-
co►nmittee yesterday it was decided to
refuse th- application for the reinstall -
anent of John C. Wiggins of Goderich,
W111. in 1907 had been expelled for
striking a referee. The committee
iliade it plain that 0, H. A. referees
are always to receive the complete
protection and support of the Associa-
tion. whose representatives they are
at the various games.'
The above is from a Toronto paper
of Tuesday last. tiuderich friends of
the suspended player are pleased to
notice that The London Free Presstakel
up the cudgels on Wiggins' behalf.
Commenting upon the action of the
subcommittee, The Free Press says it
"cannot agree with any such view,
Wiggins no doubt offended seriously,
but his offence waw courmitted u,
the heat of an imp, rtaut contest aqd
was nkrt premeditated. The action of the
0. H. A. committee would lead to the
belief that the young man is a vicious
character, whish- le entirely wrong.
Jack 11'igginm is a fine young man,
who can at all times be counted upon
to play the game fair. His _nom•en-
Lary hers gives no idea of hie ordi-
nary conduct on the ice and off. If he
offended he has suffered sufficient pun-
isheleut. The 0. H. A. can well af-
ford to ahl,w mercy."
