Things happened in Colborne town-
ship on Monday. The contest hinged
largely on matters in ct•nnection with
the Ontario West Shore Electric Rail-
way, a section of the ratepayers accus-
ing Reeve MacEwan end Counrillors
McManus and Metier of unduly favor-
ing the railway company. The fact
that Mr. MacEwen is a resident el the
town of Goderich 'deo 'Mpg made a
factor in the centest, while there was
little or no compleint 'tato hill et -millet
of the tovrnehip brininess riot side of
electric railway matters. The dlection
was much on the settle line. a year
ago. when J. N. Kernighen made an

Or. !Newell, who vinited Monte Carlo
two summers ago, will introduce his
address by a. description of this gor-
geous and notorious "gambling hell."
The primary of North steeet Sunday
school will give a very interesting
program next Monday eyening, J te it -
nary 10th, in the schoolroom at 7:3u
o'clock. A beautifully decorated
Christmas tree will add to the even-
ing's enterutinpent. All are wel-

The annual Christmas and New
Year's entertainment of the Baptist
Sunday school was held in the church
lent Thursday evening. Although the
weather Ives unpropitious there was a
good attendance. The little folks sup-
plied a large part of the progrene
which included a pretty selection..

choice selections were rendered by a

The crowning feature of the evening

of thanks to Mr. Thomson and there
