Supporters of Bylaw Cheerful. t
How the local option result was 1e.
eeived
e-
eeived by the supporters of the bylaw
is best expressed in a description of
the closing scene of the first service of D
the week of prayer, held in the Bap- "h
fist church on Monday evening.' The
church was filled and the congrega-
tion -intensely expectant. At the 'Iu
close of Rev. J. A. Anderson s semen la
the chairman asked if the reset( was •
known. Mr. A. M. Robertson arose
and read the figures, , which, while el
meaning probable defeat to the bylaw,
meant a strong expression of politic
opinion against the bytrrooute and a Jo
great moral victory that augured well
for the future contest. These sent i- Fa
menta were forcibly pronounced by
Rev. R. W. Millysrd and other speak- ,
ere. The feelingwas thatthe
figures
being w close, te possible results of a Ea
recount might be the carrying of the PN
bylaw and that, in any case, sooner or
later the barrooms would be definitely
banished from Goderich.
