A., of tVilkesports were united in marriage by Rev. Dr. Dougall. The bride, who was nnet- teuded, was given away by her father, and the wedding march was played by the bride's sister, Mies Pearl Knox. The bride was married in her travel- ling suit of navy blue with hat to match. and her.bouquet was of cream roses. The gr6ow'e gift to the bride was a beautiful brooch set with pearls and the other presents were both nuinerous and beautiful. Only im- mediate relativgs Were in attendance, arnoog them being the groom's mother, Mrs. E. J. Kilpatrick, and his brother, S. J. Kilpatrick, of Mate'[ing. Another brother of the groom, Rev. R. T. Kilpatrick, of Brown City, Mirh., was to have assisted in the ceremony. but he was called haute again the stay before the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Kilpatrick left on the 2:40 train for a trip to Hamilton and Toronto, accompanied by the best wishes of a host of friend... Rev. J. H. Oliver's Address. There was a good attendance at the public meeting on Monday night in the court house addressed by Rev. Joseph H. Oliver, of Sarnia. The meeting was in the interests of the local option campaign in Goderich, and the speaker was ready with eloquence. argument, tact and sarcasm to• im- press his hearers with the iniquity of the liquor traffic and their duty to •14011 he the bar. Opportunity was given for anyone opposed to local prohibition to address the meeting but there were no volunteers. Mr. Oliver reviewed the present standing of the various Provinces of the Dominion as to teniperance legislation, met the arguments commonly advanced against local prohibition and cited the cases of Toronto Junction and Owen Sound as examples of Increased busi- ness and better hotel accommodation under local prohibition. in a burst of eloquence he described the greatness* of s country as depending on the quality of its manhood and not on the extent of its wealth in forest, field and stream. At the conclusion he answered several questions. The chair WA*/ occupied by Deputy Reeve Elliott and several appropriate rhonlsee were given by a nialo choir. The Johnson-McRaye Entertainment It Wae not is large but it was an ap- preciative audience that heard Mine Pauline Johnson and Mr. Walter Mc - Rale in Victoria Opera House on Fri- day evening last. Those who stayed away because, perhaps, they feared two, e•lecutioniets-ort the one prnp(ratri would not afford sufficient variety made a great mistake. Miss Johnson, indeed, was not known to our people as a comedian, but it number of light character sketches showed her versa- tility in a new direction and provided plenty of variety. Mr. McltayP n abil- ities as a raconteur were an aseiwtanee in the same way. Mies Johnson'e chief n hers savored of the trngic and were given with great feeling and intense expression. Everything she recited was of her own composition. Mr. MrReye gave several of the late Dr. Drummond's poems, and those who have entered into the spirit of the "poet of the habitant" were de- lighted with Mr. McRaye'a rendering, in whirh the beauty and wholesome- ness of the simple human nature of the French-Canadian habitant were admit•ably depicted. Altogether It Was an evening of rate enjoyment, and it is only to be regr.•tted that a larger number of our people did not. turn out to hear !hese splendid enter- tainers.
