nyway ; why did our people not pay it ?
Some of the readers of this paper per-
haps do not know. \''e offered it to
your people if they would spend it up-
on the hill. end they would not do it.
But why was there a kick at all ?
Simply because our contribution and
that of the other contributors woe
most Nhatuefully misapplied. and in a
large measure warted from the
(riginal intent and purpose of the
contributors. Were t h o ruling
faculty of the township of Uoderich
aware of the fact that they, as /dew -
/tills of those contribution.., were mis-
applying moneys ? it looks ass if they
were.. The very fact that the Px-
Itee've of Goderich township positively
and deliberately refused lo go on with
the work unless certain conditions
and stipulations in our original offer
and verbal contract were nullified,
warn, to Nay the least, suspicious.
We contend today, and forever, that
there was money enough spent in that
transaction and contract, if properly
appropriated to the particular use for
which it wass given, would have com-
pleted a hill that the people of tinder
rich township 4.r the county of Huron
alight feel proud 4.f, and 0111 people
should have been glad to hand Over
their contribution with pleasure : and
when all was done our people offered
to make them a present ,not because
of obligation: of 1175, which they re-
fused.
The people of Colborne are the ones
who derive the greatest benefit from
this roadway, they are the one* who
are mtist directly interested. The
petition WP presented to our county
council was .igned by about 23) rate-
payers of this township. More than
one-half of thoee people are using thin
road to a greater or lesser extent.

Among the causek that contributed
toward the Irani results is the fact that
too large a percentage of low grade

Market in the Old Country. More
that, twice that percentage has been

were nothing more than absolute trash.
The shipment of this stuff has com-
