children" of Alexander Hersh, a farmer
of the Lake Dauphin district, near Win-
nipeg, were drowned Monday. The chil-
dren. ranging Itt age from 6 to 16
years, went to the lake shore to bathe.
Finding an old boat, they pushed out

the boat out. The children had no
oar and could not go back. The high
waves filled the boot. The children
hung on to the boat until they were
exhausted, when one by one they let

drowning, but not having a boat were
