the 17th the remains of William I)urtue
( lately of the ninth concession, of West
Wewauueb were interred in Dungannon
cemetery being e•eoeted thither by • large
cencourae tet sorrowing relatives,friends and
neighbours. He was aged 79 years. the
obeluimprere conducted by Rev. Mr. Mile.,
of l.ueknow, 1n • very impressive manner.
The deowe.d was one of the oldest. and
most respected ,loosen, of West Wawa -
nosh, it being upwards of forty years since
he located on the lot from which the ro-
mans were taken, He had been in a deli-
cate state of health for some years which no
doubt was indaced by enduring many prt-
vatione, as also hard labor incidental to
the first settler., and on Saturday morning,
of last week he departed this lite bidding a
peaceful adieu to all .ublimary objects.
He was highly respected by all elates of
the community as being • man of sterling
worth, industrious habits and [reserving
and diligent in procurtng • comfortable
home for his family. Whilst in health he
was • regular atteo.Lat on the means of
grace beteg a consistent Christian, ever ready
to assist the needy especially to those who
located in the woods 'way book in the for-
ties. His absence in the faintly, church,
and neighborhood will be greatly felt, as
be was an .zempl•ry husband, kind father,
and an excellent eiuzeo. He leaves behind
him • sorrowing widow ad • large Lundy
of sons and daughters to mourn his lot.
The bereaved widow and tamely have
the sincere heartfelt sympathy of the coma
enmity to bereavement of one so dear to
them. The esteem in which he was held
was evinced by the very large (users'
