23rd. Wm. Sprout was out driving with •

horse got frightened at something on the
road sad bolted suddenly to the side, strik-
ing the wheel of the cart apart •of a
fence. Mr. Sprout was thrown off the
concussion and tnstantly killed, striking his
mouth on the top of one of the fence poets.
He was found soon afterwards on the road-
side quite dead. The remains were Wren
to his house in the town during the day.
Mr. Sprout was one of the pioneer settlers
of Huron, having retired from his farm in
Tuckeremith a couple of years ago end tak-
en up his residence in 1eeforth. He was so
elder of the Presbyterian church, and was
one of the most highly respected members of
the community. He was between 60 and
70 years of age, and leaves a widow and
krge family, all of whom, with the exoep-
tion of the youngest daughter, are residents
of Manitoba. His sad death has wet a
gloom over this place.

Brussel : Tuesday night, May god, the
grim messenger death visited the home of
Doug•ld Strachan. Arcola, Assiwb,ia, N.
V.T., formerly of Brussels, and beckoned
the spirit of Mrs. Strachan away. The
muse of her decease was co nsuut tion, with
which she has been affected for the past few
years. She was • daughter of Thos. His-
lop, formerly of Grey township, Ont., end
was united in marriage to her uow bereft
partner about 8 years ago, residing in 1:rua-
sela for • number of years, where the de•
maimed by ber kindly manner and social
qualities endeared herself to all who knew
her. In July, 1890, Mrs. Str&chut went
out to Manitoba to visit her parents with a

They have made their home there ever since.
Death had no terrors tor the deceased and
she talked calmly and joyouslyof the home
beyond Mr. Strachan anti three little

in loving remembrance. The funeral took
