Quite • number of our residents are
suffering from influenza or la grippe.
The municipal council of West Ws-
wenosh meets on Saturday, 8th. it: the
town hall.
We hope Mrs Wm John Smith, of this
village, and Mrs Cluff, of Ashfield, who
have been and are still very ill, will soon
remover.
Messrs R. Murray, of St. Helens, and
John Webster, of West Wawanosh, paid
our village an official visit on Wednes-
day, the 5th.
On Sunday last a son of Mr Richard
Westbrook, Ashfield, met with an acci-
dent -results brooms arm. We hope to
hear soon of his recovery.
We sincerely hope that Mrs Craw-
ford, sr., mother of B J Crawford, who
has been for some time past affected
with inflammation of the lungs, will be
restored to her former state of health.

The winter season this far has been
such that the oldest settler io this vicin-

kind and obliging neighbor. A widow

that his venerable father, Mr Peter
Green. considering his old age, is enjoy -

mother, which is pleasing to all their
act and friends.
It is with regret that we learn that

ship of Colborne, viz , Mr Christopher
Stewart, of the Nile, haft been called
from time to eternity. We hope that
kind Providence will comfort and
sustain the bereaved children who are
left as orphans.
We would remind the trustees of the
different school sections in Wes. Wawa -

orders for the municipal grant at once
to the treasurer, as it is necessary to do
sem; on account of tenons having to be
made to the County C:erk, on or before

Austen Potter. Subject. "Reminiscences
of the American War for the abolishing
of Slavery." The rev gentleman hav-
ing been a soldier during the war. and

ticipated, quite at home tin the subject,
which he dealt with in an able, instruc-
five, humorous and edifying manner.
Mr Thos. Anderson ably filled the chair
on the occasion. Considering state
rd ineds, etc., there was • good turn
out. Every one present seemed to be
well pleased with the lecturer, them
selves and the lecture. We congratu-
late the Young People's Society on their
enemas in getting up such .at interest-
ing mental entertainment.

ard Fritzley, who has bean seriously ill,
is becoming coovalescent.

suffering from a slight indisposition.
The roads in this district are almost
impassable this week.
Mr Jas. Stewart, who tcok a trip to
Toronto last week, has returned home.
