service and Mrs Buchanan with several

their departure for Tomato, where they

On Tuesday, September 10th, Charles
Ainley died, at the town of Harriston,
taker an illness extending over nine
months, aged 46 years, 5 mortha and 28
days. From a cold contracted in the
factory where be worked congestion of
the lungs set in followed by other
complications, which resulted in his
death. The deoeailed was born in the
township of Hope, Durham County, and
was he bth son of the late Wm. Ainley,
formerly of Brussels, and was well
known in that locality, having resided
there for yeses. About eight years ago
he removed to Harriston, where he con-
tinued to reside until his decease. He
was married twice, his surviving wife
being •.dau,(hter of .ino. Grant, near
Ethel. Mr Aieley left three slaughters.

Mors Jas Elliot and Wilson McLean,
formerly of Dederick township and
Wet Wuwsnosb, respectively, but now
of Dakota, U 8, visited our village with
• number of broncbos. with the view of
making sale of them. Mr John Gay,
oarpeoter and cantrtotor,who is • citizen
of this village, purchased one for about
seventy dollars. He seems to be well
pleased with the purchase. Three of
them are in this vicinity at present
Mrs Stephen Irwin of West Wswanoeh
is at present seriously ill. As she is an
aged lady in her eighty-fourth year,
prospects of recovery are doubtful.
Mr Chas Robinson, who has been on a
tour northward to Sault Ste Mane and
other points for lotus time past, for the
benefit of hie health, arrived home on
Saturday last mush improved in appear-
ance as also in 1. ialth. We welcome him
home,hoping that be will continue to en-
joy good health.

labored in our school earnestly and faith-
fully, teaching as of the great truth of

that tie which binds us as teacher and
scholars, to leave us to undertake new
