WW1:RICH FOR 111.DUSTRIRR.
Mr Green, of Gilchrist, Green &
furniture manufacturers, Winghaue, was
in Goderich on Tuesday last, and in con-
versation with Mayor Seeger, stated
that he knew of no tows io Cons= more
suitable for the establishment of • large
manufacturing industry in his line than
Goderich He had every confidence in
the coming of the C. P. R. to Goderich,
and in that event, he amid, the railway
competition and the lake facilities for
trade with the Northwest, would give
advantages to the town for the buildiog
op of a large export trade in furniture
superior to any other town in Cana-
da, Hs stated further that the firm of
which he was a member had serious
thoughts of chaugine their bare of oper-
ations, and sukir.g $ better shipping
point than that which they now =co -
vied, and that under certain oenditione
they would not hesitate to locate in
Guderich. The change of location would
necessitate • present low, which, he had
every reason to helieve,would eventually
be far more than recouped, but in the
Abigentime he was of opioion that assist-
ant -Foe from the town would be required
in the shape of • boats ..r loan. He
eras not prepared to make • definite pro.
pal,but it was possible that he would be
able to submit •n offer from his fine
to the town council inside of • week.
Were the firm to locate in Goderich they
propose to employ not fewer than one
h and red hands.
This is • matter that it behooves our
public meo to examine into. There it
no doubt that Mr Green is right ut white
be states concern's' the advantages
possessed by Goderich for the establish-
ment of • factcry such es that in which
be is engaged, and if it should happen
that his firm is out circumstanced so u to
avail itself of the opportunity of locating
here, we believe there are others in
various hranch.re of industry that could
be induced to come.
What has been said in favor of the
establishment 4)( a large furniture factory
ie Onderich, also applies to almost *very
breech of industry. In the near future
an unbounded market will open op in the
Northwest, and the point with the beat
direct stopping facilities to the market,
most of necessity have the advantage
over all others.
Goderich is on the tenet direct lin* of
t aneit in this respect, and there is no
resenn why nuinufacterere of all kinds
in inland towns goad not be induced to
save railway freights end transhipnient
by locates, their busieeso hen.

IMPORTANT.- Within the past week
we have sent out accounts varying frost
$3 to $53, all for subscriptions due
the Advocate. As we hare waited for
years in many oases, and now that.
bountiful larnist has been garnered, we
require their immediate settlement,
otherwise they will be placed in court foe
collection.
The above is from the Mitchell Advo-
cate, and certainly dose not speak well
for the business management of that
journal. A paper that would let dead-
head subscribers remain on its list until
an arrearage of $43 had piled up, ought
certainly to have • large hat, bet we
(legation the wisdom of carrying the dead-
heads. Almost every paper is troubled
with slow -paying subscribe's, to a great-
er or lees extent, but the Aaron:de, when
it dues looms of its "hardbeads" for a
wayback bill of $53, distances all rivals
in this regard, or we are no judge of
delinquent subscribers and the dealings
of the country press with them.
