Th. membership of the church in this

have been paid in full. The Rev. G. H.
Cornish, of Wingham, was elected to the
Stationing Committee ; the Rev. R.
Davy, of Bernie, to the S. S. Committee;
and Mr. J. C. Detlor, of Goderich, to
the Contingent Committee.
The distance was a mile, over • wretched
course. At Lucknow un Monday he led
a field of seven, in a two mile run taking
the first prize, another silver medal.

Sam Noble was sent to gaol on Tues-
day fur 30 data, fur non-payment of fine.
Sam Duncan, for being drunk and dis-
orderly waw sent up for 10 days.
John Kennedy, an American tramp,
was arrested on Friday last for being
drunk and disorderly. He had been
insulting ladies on West street, and bee
been set upon by a decent passer-by,
given a good thrashing and handed ever
to the police. He waw, on Tuesday,
given the alternative of $1 fine and cysts,
10 days in gaol, or to leave tcwn on the
first train. He "jumped"' the town.

was charged before mayor Horton and
S. 1'ulleek, J. P., with "felonious' un-
lawfully and maliciously wounding Robt.
Taylor, with intent to de aid Taylor

the evidence that McCullough and
Taylor live on adjoining farms in Gods -
rich township, but have net been on good
terms for some time. On Thursday of
last week Taylor with hu hired man
started to impound some cattle of Mc-

mises. H4 did not impound the cattle,
but after driving them a certain distance,
went back to his own lot. `Shortly af-
terwards McCullough came along, and
accused Taylor of attempting to impound
his cattle. High words were spoken

when McCullough, it is stated stooped
down picked up a large sttme,and struck
Taylor in the forehead, fracturing the
skull. After hearing some evidence the
ease was adjourned to Monday next, to
that the evidence of the injured man
could be taken. McCullough gave bail,
himself in $2,000, and two sureties in

club, came hero on his wheel on Tuesday
evening, and left on Wednesday morn-
ing.

The people were somewhat surprised
on Tuesday last, on learning of the death
of Hugh McKnight, of Tuckersmdth,
which took place on the morning of that
day. Mr. McKnight owned and occupied
the farm recently owned by James Mo -
Ewing. He removed to it from the
