There is room for a geed I.usinese to he done here, and, if ;lir. Denoen COML.% up to the character that 1pre:edes him, success will be sure to crown 1 inn. The pupils of uur public school are preparing for a grand ontertainmet.t at the close of school. There are some light-fingered persons around this village at present. During the past few weeks quite a number of serious thefts have been committed, Chancey Brown had forty dollen stolen from his house seine time ago. B. J. Crawford had a valuable Persian lamb cap stulen off his counter one evening last week, and he had a robe stolen out of his cutter one night since. The parties who took the cap would do well to return it as quietly as they tock it, as they are well known. Mr. Crawford feels delicate about exposing them, his suspicions alwut the parties who took the rube are not quite so well founded, but he is not altogether without a clue. Araborloy. That these correspondeuta should furnish wholesome material for instructive reading is also desira''le, But wheu these reporters make themselves the medium of slander or insinuation, then their function is disgraced. Unfortunately fur the cause of veracity, decorum and justice, a prag- matic swell has of late been furnishing THE SIGNAL with items from amberly. The hotel landlady of this place has of late come in for a share of abuse from this dauber in printer's ink.
