To its Editors of The tiaras el.aa!

confab between T, Haw, of Port Al-
bert and your correspondent, which ap-
peered in your paper I• few weeks ago,
my first impulse sae to cut a will,yw and
go for the author of the infamous un•
truths coutaiued therein, but kuowiag
that newspaper couteoreraies-especially
when the writers era a lung distance
apart -generally end in the partes eat.
Ink; each other hard names, and knowing
also that when it came to tha•, that
Haskins and your correspondent onaf
make me pull down my sign, I hit it to
abler headsandhands than mine to reply,
and sines reading T. It. H.'s reply in
your laat lout' I ane lllad that I did so.
I am sotgm that life article appeared at
all, fee Whir canoed each an fli-fading
between eertaia parllrs hominid. pasties
down this*, t1N1_it take M,ne tisyp
to heal. Whenever I ineet a person from
Huron or Bruce on the streets it is shout
the first matter that cones up in conver-
sation, and it seems the more they talk
about it the madder they get. T. R.
Hawkin's regular backdown which ap-
leand in last week's Sfa,. doesn't help
him one bit. He had lots of time to
• contradict it before any of the !eters from
here were published.
I have been frequently asked by par-
ties here, as well u by parties down
there, to contradict the article, as well
u to give my opinion of Winnipeg.
Well I must say that Winnipeg is a great
and a go-ahead place. There in no
P denying the fact that there area great
many persons in financial difficulties here
at the pratitat time, consequaut upon
Ilse great boom of last year, but there
are alsoa number of,v+ery wealthy, en-
terprling people here .and the place is
going ahead rapidly. There are on the
principal streets navy substantial busi-
110ee Mocks going up, and 0111 the tith-
er streets, especially in the suburbs,
there are a large, number of magnificent
private resideneee and houses to rent
also going tip. I know that I am safe in
saying' that there is no city in the Dom-
inion of the same size to day where there
are sontsny valuableimprovements going
on. I and satisfied that I made a good
more by coming bere, and I would ad-
ds* everybo4y that is similarly situated
to what i1 was down there to kart. at Q
once. There., is work here for every
person that is willing to work at fair
wages. Why, girls front 12 to Iii years J C
of age make more•money here cleaning i `J
bottles and such like work than able I to •
bodied men can ern down there. And
every body login happy ; even the news- Cr
salver men •tulle hereand look like
as if they lived on three square steals, a
day. As for a correspondent, 1 havent
met one here yet, and if then are ail as
wicked and as untruthful u T. R. Haw.
