The Pall Mall Gazette says that a
genuine Redskin, a pure Mohican, who
is st once a chief. a schoolmaster, and s
disciple of Sir Wilfrid I*waon, should
attend at Windsor in his traditional cos-
tume, with war club and scalping -knife
all complete, and present to the Queen a
battered tomahawk -- which he had,
however, the consideration to have
ground and polished for the ow talon - is
an idea so bold, au incongruous, and yet
so attractive that it can only be hoped
that nothing will prevent its realisation.
The case, moreover, which the Muncey
delegate from Caradoc, in Ontari,o,comes
to argue is one so deserving .d all sym-
pathy that can only rejt.ire is every cir-
cumstance which is lately to call atten-
tion to it. His tribe, after faithfully
adhering to the British cause through
the French War and the War of Inde-
pendence in the last dietary, .were
royally forgotten by their great father,
King George the Third, living across the
i:ea, who is very rich and kind and good
to all his children." Being allowed,
however, to settle unrewarded but un-'
molested on mule waste laa.l on the
Thames River, they founded what has
since become a most prosperous settle-
ment, now intersected by two railways.
so prosperous, indeed, has it become
that some Canadian farmers consider it
too good for Indians, and desire to re-
move the Munceys "further west." It
is against this injnstioe, whish is legally
11.eeible, for they have no title to the
lands, but morally infamous, that the
Muncey delegate has cc me to England to
protest.
