Organizations hold Xmas meetings

Units Hold. ChriStMas Meetings
The basement of the United
Church was decorated in a
Christmas setting when the Wal-
ton Unit held their aringalChrist-
rn as party on Wednesday evening,
There were 35 who sat down to
a smorgasbord supper prepared
by the losing side of the copper
contest.
Following the supper Christ-
nlas CarPis were sung accom-
panied, by Mrs. Bill Humphries
at the piano. Mrs. Walter Bew-
ley read a Christmas poem, "The
Christ Child Comes Once More",
followed by prayer.
Several games of Court Whist
were enjoyed, with Mrs. Bill
Thatner winning the prize for the
Most points and Mrs. Ian Wilbee
was low lady. Mrs. Rae Huether
extended a vote of thanks to Mrs.
Nelson. Marks and the losing
side of the copper contest for
preparing such a pleasant
evening. Boxes were packed for
several shut-ins. Jingle Bells,
was sung and Santa arrived dis-
tributing gifts to everyone.
McKillop Unit
The December meeting of the
McKillop Unit of the U.C.-W. was
held at the home of Mrs. Murray
Dennis. The losing side of the
copper contest serving dinner,
the dessert being supplied by the
losing side.
The devotions were in charge
of Mrs. George Love Sr. opening
by singing Christmas Carols.
Mrs. George Love Jr. read, the
Scripture from Matthew 2:1 - 12.
followed with Mrs. Love Sr,
giving the Meditation.
Mrs. Don. Dennis had the
topic giving the old traditional
Christamas Story. Christmas
Carols were sung with Mrs.
Laverne GOOkin as pianist,
followed by Mrs. G.Love Sr,
leading in prayer.
Mrs, John Burch the presi-
dent, presided for the business
part of the meeting, opening with
a reading, " Special Treat".
Minutes of the last meeting were
read by the secretary, Mrs.
Glen McNichol, Roll Call was
taken with 14 members present,
and was answered by a Christ-
mas Tradition. Collection was
taken by Mrs. Keith Rock and
dedicated by Mrs. John Burch.
Christmas treats are to be sent
to shut,ins.
Christmas Gifts were ex-
changed among the members.

was held on. WednesdaY evening?
December 13.
Following a delicious supper,
Mrs. A. McDonald opened the
devotional period with the call
to Worship. Hymn, "Hark the
'Herald Angels Sing" was sung
followed by prayer. The. Scrip-
ture reading from Luke 2: 7-14
was given by Mrs. DOn Fraser.
A Rex Humbard record was
played, everyone joining in to
i sing"Joy to the world". Mrs.
Ken McDonald led in Prayer.
The C,hristmas Carol, "Silent
Night" was sung. Mrs. Ken
McDonald lad in a Christmas
Quiz, followed by a poem,
"Christmas Blessings".
Mrs. Don McDonald conducted
the business period. Names were
chosen for the copper contest
for the coming year. The minutes
were read by the secretary, Mrs.
George McCall. The roll call
was answered by 12 members.
Mrs. Rae Houston gave the
treasurer's report and received
the regular offering.
17th and Boundary Unit
The Christmas meeting of the
17 th and Boundary was held at
the home of Mrs. Jan Van Vliet
1Sr. on Mondayevening, December
11th.
Mrs. Clifford Hoegy opened
I the devotions with the thought for
the day, followed by prayer.
'Christmas Carols, "Joy to the
World","It Came Upon the Mid-
night Clear", "The First Noel",
and "Silent Night" were sung,
with Mrs. M. Baan at the piano.
Mrs. Hoegy read the scripture
from Matthew2:17-25 followed by
prayer and a poem, "Time for
Giving".
"What Christmas Means"
was the Topic chosen by Mrs.
Herb Williamson. Mrs. Ross
Bennett read the story of Christ-
mas, "He Visited Me Not". The
minutes were read by Mrs. John
Bos, correspondence and Thank.
You cards were read. Thirteen
members answered the roll call.
'It was passed that Mrs. Martin
Baan be the President for the
coming year, Vice-President,
Mrs. Roy Williamson,Secretary,
Mrs. Harold McCallum.
Next meeting to be at Mrs.
H. Williamson's home with Mrs.
H. Craig and Mrs. Ross Bennett
in charge.
"While Shepherds Watch their
Flocks"was the closing hymn,
followed by lunch served' by Mrs.
C. Hoegy and Mrs. H. Willianison.
Shower for Bride of the Month
Miss Betty Mason was guest
of honor at a miscellaneous
shower on Tuesday evening in
the Anglican Church, Brussels.
Contests were enjoyed during the
evening.
Betty, her mother, Mrs.
Eleanor Mason, and the groom's
aunt, Mrs. Allan McCall were
seated on the decorated chairs
at the front. Miss Debbie Kef-
fer read an address of. Best
Wishes and gifts were presented
to the bride-elect by Debbie
Small, Judy White and Beth Mc-
Cauley. Betty replied thanking
everyone for the lovely gifts.
A bride's book made - by Judy
White was passed around during
lunch which was arranged by
Mrs. Frank Alcock and Mrs.
Ray White and served by several
girl friends.
