Come from behind to 1 .14*fin
pitching of Frank Stretton,
scoring 5 runs in the fifth
and 4 in the sixth to gain their
victory of a 13 - 4 count. How-
ever the Dollhins weren't el-
iminated since that was their
first loss of the tourney. So
after a fifteen minute break the
two teams met again to decide
the championship.
The game started well with
both teams playing very good
defensive ball. Then in the
third, the Clippers scored 5 runs
and never looked back. This
seemed to knock the spunk out
of the Dolphins and the final score
ended up 16 - 4 for the team-
work Clippers.
The star for the champions
throughout the tourney was Dave
'Vaccum Cleaner' McCutcheon
who compiled 7 triples in the
playoffs, knocking in double fig-
ure runs. The whole team played
well in the finals and special
note should be made of the super
playing of both John Cousins and
Dale 'Wisher' Pletch, both of the
victory.
The -ballplayers enjoyed
themselves this year and will
be ripping to get back at It
again next year. The league
made mistakes but through the
experience gained, next year pro-
mises good, competitive, fun ball.

On the weekend of the 19th
and 20th, the four Town League
teams met to decide the year's
champion. The Clippers took
the title on Sunday night in the
final game against the Dolphins.
The tournament started on
Saturday night with the 1st and
3rd place teams playing at '7
o'clock. The Buccaneers sur-
prised the pennant winning Clipp-
ers by defeating them by the
score of 10 - 5. Ken Scott,
pitching for the Pirates, allow-
ed just '7 hits and '7 walks. This
was complemented by the super
fielding of his team mates which
seemed to stymie the opposition.
In the 9 o'clock matchup, the
second place Dolphins defeated
the cellar-dwelling Highlanders
17 - '7. Greg Huether went
the distance for the Porpoises
allowing just 1 walk in the seven
inning he pitched.
On Sunday they went back at
it again, with the Highlanders and
the Clippers playing at 1 o'clock.
The Clippers had revenge in their
eyes and came up with a stunn-
ing 16 - 6 victory. This el-
iminated the Highlanders from
further competition but they
showed great spirit in coming out
every night to play and enjoy
themselves.
At 3 o'clock the two winners
of Saturday nights' games clocked
to see who would get a bye into
the final. The Dolphins came
out tough scoring 4 runs in the
first 2 innings but were chall-
enged time and time again by the
ever dangerous Buccaneers. In
the final inning with the fish ahead
by three, the Bucs had 2 men on
base, with 2 out when a good
play by Murray 'Wicker' Mc-
Donald snuffed out the threat,
giving the Dolphin's a victory
of 13 - 10.
Due to their loss the Bucs
had to play the Clippers after
a short rest. /- feel the heat
had a great bearing on the game.
as the exhausted Pirates went
down to defeat by the score of
16 - 4. The Clippers momentum
was starting to roll as the team
played flawless ball. This match
eliminated the Buccaneers, sett-
ing the stage for the finals
between the Clippers and the
Dolphins.
At. 7 o'clock the finalists
met with the surging Clippers
coming out hungry. The game
was very close with the score
tied 4 - 4 going into the last
of the fifth inning. Then the

avail.
