The squirrels. that make our
trees and lawn their playgrounds
are delightfully interesting crea-
tures to watch. I have had
heated reminders that they are
destructive rodents from a man
who hates the little beasties and
carries on a running battle to
chafe them from his, lawn. But
they are intriguing, frisky, agile
creatures to observe. If one sits
quietly they will come within
inches of you, pick up a choice
Morsel, sit on their hindlegs,
with bushy tail curved upward
and daintly nibble from their
front feet while their glittery
eyes are intently fixed on you.
Even if you don't want to tame
them, as you can by offering
tempting tid-bits, they are amus,
Mg little animals, in spite of
my friend's warning that they
are nothing but nasty pests.

The incident that occurred in
Clinton during the Derry Day
celebration held there is most
regrettable. The 15 men who
created the disturbances were
unknown to lodge members at-
tending the celebrations. One
of the protesters responsible
said they were from Toronto
"originally from Ireland". They
claimed some of the program
numbers in some way supported
the IRA and were an affront
to the two Union Jack flags dis-
played on stage. The situation
in Ireland is tragic and terrify-
? ing but the trouble there should
not be allowed to create erup-
tive dissension here. The mis-
guided persons who cause such
disturbances should be dealt with
effectively. we have enough
trouble of our own in Canada
without importing the dreadful
hatred that exists in Northern
Ireland.

Wallace at OFA office which

for a ruling from income tax
officials on the grants and was
told that they were not to be
considered as part of a farmer's
income and that expenses in-
