Cards of Thanks To all my friends in. Brussels who remembered me and my boys in the death of my dear Husband Victor Hinton, let me say a very very big thank you. Your donat- ion to the heart fund was the best way possible to express your sympathy to my family. If in the near future research comes up with the answer to the premature deaths of our young and middle aged heart attack victims, you can all be proud of your generosity. Let us hope it will be soon, as it leaves an awful lonely life for those left behind. Once again thank you, not only for this time but all the times you have been there when my sister and I needed help. Brussels should be renamed (The Village with A Heart.) - Ruth Hinton and Sons, Ronald and Kenneth. 24-31-1 The family of John Eldon White, London, extend special thanks to M. L. Watts Funeral Home; Rev. K. Stokes of St. John's Anglican Church; the Ladies of St. John's Guild, for kindness extended at the time of their bereavement; also to pallbearers and flower bearers. 24-31-1 Sincere thanks is given to rela- tives, neighbours and friends for their many expressions of sympathy, at the time of the death of our grandson, John Eldon White; also for cards of sympathy and baking received. All was much appreciated - Jack and Mary White. 24-31-1 A Brussels Post Classified will pay you dividends . Have you tried one? Dial 887-6614. THE BRUSS The serum is free In. Ontario last year, seven. People were bitten by Massas- auga Rattlesnakes --Ontario's only species of venomous snake. Fortunately, 'due to prompt first aid and antiverom serum treat- ment in hospital, the seven victims survived. The Ontario Hospital Assoc- iation is concerned that visitors and vacationers in "rattlesnake" country are often unaware of proper first aid procedures and the fact that free antivenomserum is avilable at strategically located hospitals throughout the province. Time is important --it can mean the difference between life and death! Ontario's Ministry of Health recommends the following treat- ment for rattlesnake bite victims. Immediately apply a tourniquet , just above the bite. Apply tightly enough to compress soft tissues, but not to stop blood circulation. The bitten arm or leg should be kept at rest and the patient taken to the nearest antivenin depot or hospital. Conservation officers of the Ministry of Natural Resources stationed in Ontario provincial parks are trained to give first aid for rattlesnake bites. The public can purchase snake bite r' kits from Cutter Laboratories, 3079 Universal Drive, Missis- sauga, Ontario, for $2.31 plus - 35 cents postage. A kit contains a tourniquet, small scalpel and three suction cups. In all rattlesnake bite cases,: it is essential that victims be transferred to an antivenamiepot. The bite of a rattlesnake causes' severe pain, swelling and discoloration within a few minutes. Other Ontario snakes are not poisonous, their bites do not cause severe reaction and antivenom treatment is un- necessary. Contrary to popular belief, Massasauga Rattlesnakes are not confined to Georgian Bay, Lake Huron and the off-shore islands--they can be found from Windsor to Sudbury. And they are not confined to land; they are often seen swimming some dis- tance from shore. Massasaugas are born live, the venom sacs fully developed. Due to reflex action, a rattler can inflict a bite when apparently dead.
