a permit was approved Tuesday night for the cenStruction
of a Wilding for the- Royal Bank of Canada...Stephen
township has, approved a building permit for the erection
of a $125,000 cern drying and storage building op part
of lot 15, concession 13....Rev. and Mrs, Mervin Elston
Of Centralia marked their golden Wedding recently at

The Mitchell Advocate relates that Mitchell Agricul.

ford, formerly of Teeswater, recently celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary....Rev. Otto Haefele, semi-
retired priest, will be assistant to Rev. Frank Dent-
anger, pastor of Immaculate Conception parish at For-
mosa.
The Wingham Advance-Times reports • that the Town
Council will now meet twice monthly to improve operat-
ing efficiency....Stanley-Berry Limited will break ground
Thursday, for a $185,000 expansion of its plant in Wing-
ham: It is expected to be completed by September 1st....
Capt. Jack Cameron and his wile, recently of Mimico,
were installed by Col. Wilfred Ratcliffe of Hamilton,
at a special service and reception at the Salvation. Army
Citadel. They succeed Capt. Jack Fearnall and. Mrs.
Fearnall who were posted to Niagara Falls....Robert N.
Rintoul, son of Mrs. Clara A. Rintoul and the late Mr.
Rintoul, has been appointed manager of the Toronto-
Dominion Bank in Prescott.
The Lucknow Sentinel reports that Gordon Montgomery
heads the Lucknow Legion, while Mrs. Ford Cunningham
is Ladies Auxiliary President. Installation took place on
Tuesday evening....The Club Variety Show attracted 600
people to show at Lucknow Arena.
Del Philip, long-time Blyth merchant, was honored
by the Blyth Board of Trade on Thursday night for his
assistance in conducting the weekly draws during the
Christmas shopping period each year. According to the
Blyth Standard Helen Gowing, president of the Board,
presented Mr. Philip with an honourary membership cert-
ificate....Mr: and Mrs. Gerald Heffron, Blyth, and Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Heffron, Hanover, attended the graduation
ceremony of Catherine Anne Daly. Miss Daly is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Daly, who used to operate
the Blyth Inn, before moving to Detroit.
The Clinton News-Record relates that Bayfield Coun-
cil has deferred street lights at present due to the street-
lighting budget being expended for this year.
St. Marys Journal-Argus reports that 1972 is shaping
up as a big year in Blanshard Township. The large addi-
tion to the. Campbell Soup plant, the building of the Walter
Tkaczuk Hockey School quarters along the Thames, north
of No. 7 highway and now the announcement that a London
developer has purchased several hundred acres near Glen-
gowan, three miles north of town along the Thames. The
intent is to develop a half million dollar sports complex
incorporating an 18 hole golf course, swimming pool,
horse-back riding and so forth. In addition, we hear work
on preliminary plans for the big Glengowan dam has
again shifted into high gear.

Mrs. Earl Dunn Was, hostess
for the. July meeting of the After ,,
noon Group of the W.M4, A
poem was read, by Mrs. John
Perrie and "I Te " The Hills
Will Lift Mine Eyes" was, sung
With, Miss A, J. Forrest at the
piano. The topic "change and
the Church" was given by Mrs.
Stanley Fischer f with parts taken
by Miss Forrest and Mrs. Gordon
Engel. One of the questions was
"Should the church cooperate
with the government, or could
the church lose its identity by
doing this?" Church people are
alert to this danger in Africa.
The church must be concerned
with the poor, oppressed, hungry
and all in need. "This Canada
of ours" was read by Mrs. I.1110
Gordon and Mrs. Mac Engel gave
the Glad Tidings prayer. Sharon,
Rosanne and Tracy Engel sang
two numbers "Amazing Grace"
and "Song of Peace". Psalm
46 was read in unison, also a
part of Isaiah 7, 'with medita-
tions and prayers on each by
the leader. "Holy Spirit, Truth
Divine" was sung, and a poem
"The Picnic" by Emma Kerri
was read by Miss Forrest, The
roll call was "Something about
George Leslie MacKay". Mrs.
Lyle Gordon gave a reading"To-
day's modern grandmother".
Cards and visits were recorded
and several items were dis-
cussed. Mrs. Earl Dunn gave a
reading "How to wash" and Mrs.
Schnock read "A prayer by an
African Christian". "Simply
Trusting Every Day" was sung
and the Lords' Prayer repeated
in unison. Eight members and
several visitors were present.
Miss Forrest and Mrs. Dunn
provided refreshments.
Mr. and Mrs. Winston Mc-
Eachern and family,, Galt, visited
Mr. and Mrs. Wes McEachern
and Mrs. McEachern returned
with them for a visit.
Melvin Becker is home fol-
lowing several days in Listowel
Hospital.
