Public school class holds, graduation exercises

Grade 8 class of East Waw-
anash Public School graduated to.
Grade 9 Thursday evening.
Twenty-six graduates, their
parents, teachers and special
guests assembled in the gymn-
asium where the Belgrave
Women's Institute served supper.
After the institue was thanked
the students were introduced.
Joan Leishman the Valedictorian
delivered a speech. Crawford
Douglas, the guest speaker spoke
on past and future education
trends.
Kathy Galbraith presented Mr.
Douglas with a gift and the Grad-
uates were given their diplomas.
Proficiency awards were given
to. Doreen Anderson and Ivan
Wattam. Track, and field troph-
ies were given to Karen Coultes,
Bradley Cook, Janet Cook, Gary
Hopper, Mary Bakelaar, and
David Dunbar.

Auxiliary
The Belgrave Junior Auxil-
ary met in the Belgrave Orange
flail Saturday morning.
The meeting opened with
games led by Cathy Walk-
er.
Ruth Ann White led in the
opening exercises. The roll
call was in charge of Sheila
Anderson. Minutes were read by
Ronnie Walker. The treasurer's
report was given by Dianne Scott
Leaders for the next meeting,
Games - Judy Carmichael, Sing-
song - Dianne Scott, to help with
worship - Cathy Walker, cleanup
girl - Janette Johnston. Dianne
Scott helped with the worship.
The offering was collected by
Cathy Shiell and Cindy Camp-
bell. The offertory prayer was
recited by Sheila Anderson.
Workshop for the day proceeded
with the senior girls worked on
their Dadge work and the junior
girin worked on their second
stripe. T4e girls were remind-
pc! that the next meeting will be
,held July 8th at the. BelgraVe
Anglican Church as the Orange-
men require their Orange Hall
for their meeting. On. July 15th
the Junior Auxiliary meeting will
,be held at the Orange Hall at
the regular time. Cathy Shiell
led in the sing-song.

visit Niagara

The grade eights of East Waw-
anash Public School went to the
Niagara Falls area on Tuesday
June 27. Teachers Mr. Steven-
son and Mr. Matthies and two
parents went with us.
Leaving at 8 a.m. we arrived
at our destination at 11.30 a.m.
We then went to Teessauas wax
Museum and Ripley's Believe It
or Not Museum.
At Queenston Heights Park
we stopped for a quick lunch..
We were planning to go to Ont-
ario Hydro Generating station but
the men there were on strike.
After visiting the Aquarium in
Niagara Falls, New York we saw
both the Horseshoe Falls and
the American Falls.
This concluded our bus trip
and we arrived back at East
Wawanash Public School at 10
P.M.
Walsh.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. James Walsh were Mr.
Cecil Black of Britton, Mr. and
Mrs. Duncan Campbell, and Kent

The 27th Annual Nethery re-
union was held onSaturday after-
noon at the community hall Lond-
esboro with 90 signing the reg-
ister.

Lance Hollingsworth of St. Ig-
nace, Michigan, and the young-
est baby present was Allan
Bailey, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Bailey of Blyth.

There were 83 members of the
Higgins Clan present at the Bel-
more Community Centre on Sun-
day.
Everyone was welcomed
by the President, Ivan Haskins

members who had passed away.
Mrs. Jack Marks gave the
Secretary - Treasurers report
and read a message from Mrs.
Margaret Higgins of Blyth and
Miss. Lenore Higgins of. London
who were on vacation for the
month of June in Scotland.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Higgins
of Stratford, conducted the games
for adults and presented Mrs.
Effie Fitch of Gorrie for being
the oldest lady present. Mr.
Larry, Higgins of Toronto, re-
ceived the honour of being the
oldest man and also for coming
'the farthest. Stewart. Higgins
of Wroxeter had the most grand-
children present and Mathew
Higgins, 3 month old, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Higgins was the
youngest member.
Mr. Frank Graham of St.
Marys, thanked the lunch
committee and extended an in-
vitation to come to St. Marys
next year for the reunion. The
rest of the afternoon was spent
renewing acquaintances and en-
joying the children's sports con-
ducted by Mr. and Mrs. David
Penner of Listowel.
