perty as an Authority project.
The acquisition of the property
was approved in principle by
the Executive Committee of the
Authority in late Auguat of 1971
and approval of ,the project by
the provincial Government was
requested. •
The dam and pond cannot be
classified as flood control fac-
ilities due to their limited size
and, therefore, the Authority sub-
mitted the project to the Govern-
ment as a greenbelt or Con-
servation Area acquisition. In
order to receive a Provincial
Government grant for this pro-
ject, the Authority had to make
some concessions; the main two
being that the Authority would not
request Provincial monies for
the repair or reconstruction of
the dam for a period of five
to ten years and that the Auth-
ority would acquire the flooded
lands above the dam. The Auth-
ority agreed to accept these con-
ditions and at the December
1971 Full Authority Meeting, the
acquisition of the Brussels Con-
servation Area was approved as
an Authority project. Title to the
former Logan property was re-
ceived in January 1972 and title
to most of the flooded lands is
expected to be received in the
very near future.
The estimated total cost, of
this acquisition is $14,000.00.
As well as land cost, this fig-
ure includes monies for legal,
survey, and appraisal fees. The
