Sews of Walton
Duffs church holds Communion Service

Mrs.-Allan McCall.
A coinnuunion service was,
held at Duff'S United Church,
Walton, Sunday morning with the
Rev, Derwyn Docken in the pulpit
when he took as his sermon,
"Grace and Reality". Mrs.NancY
Smith was received into the
congregation by certificate from
Atwood. The offering was re-
ceived by; Fred Uhler, Gerald
Baan and Neil McDonald. The
choir contributed an anthem,
"Draw Thou My Soul 0 Christ".
There will be no church for the
month of July. Rev. Docken Will
take part in the Centennial
Service in the Brussels United
Church next Sunday.
UCW
The Walton Unit of the U.C.W.
met Wednesday evening in the
basement of Duff's United
Church.
The Call to Worship was given
by Mrs. Allan McCall. ,,For the
Beauty of the Earth" was sung
with Mrs. Ray Huether as pianist.
Mrs. A. McCall read the
scripture from Psalm 96. Com-
ments were given by Mrs. Jack
McEwing on the beauty of the
earth, closing with a poem
saw God wash the world last
night".
The offering was received
by the treasurer, Mrs. Mac Shol-
dice and was dedicated by Mrs.
A. McCall.
The devotional period was
closed by "This is my Father's
World".
Mrs. William Humphries
chose as her topic The Old,
Old. Story", it being the wonder-
ful redemption, the remedy for
sin.
Mrs. Nelson Reid presided
for business. The minutes were
read by Mrs. Howard Hackwell,
followed by the correspondence.
A shower was announced for
Nellie Baan to be held in the
church basement.
The Roll Call was answered
by :.thirty members. The copper
contest leaders, Mrs. Ray
Huether and M:rs. Nelson Marks
reported on their collection. Mrs.
Mac Sholdice gave the
treasurer's rePOrt. There will
be no meetings until September.
Mrs. N. Reid reported on the
retreat she had attended at
Goderich recently.
Lunch, was served by the
hostesses, Mrs. Alex Gulutzen,
Jr., Mrs. Doug. Ennis and Mrs.
Ron Bennett.
Unit Meets
The McKillop Unit of the U,
C.W. met at the home of Mrs.
Keith Rock, June 15th, with 18
members present.
Mrs. George Love Sr. was, in
charge of devotions opening the
meeting with "Praise the Lord".
The meditation was read by Mrs.
Love.
Mrs. Harold Wilson told of
her trip to Japan, Hong Kong and
Hawaii. The offering was re-
ceived by Mrs. Merton Hack-
well, and dedicated by Mrs. N.
McGavin. "Take the Name of
Jesus with You" was read by
Mrs. N. McGavin followed by
a poem, "Bed in Summer".
Mrs. Neil McGavin was in
charge of business. Minutes
were read by Mrs. Glen
McNichol. Mrs. M. Hackwell gave
the treasurer's report.
The July meeting is to be
held at Family Paradise Park,
the ladies entertaining the
children for a picnic. Mrs. N.
McGavin closed the meeting by
reading Psalm 100.
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Mc-
Call have arrived home from an
enjoyable holiday in England,
Scotland, Wales and Holland.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Walker
of Kitchener spent the week end
at their summer home in Mc-
Killop Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether,
Steven and John attended the
50th anniversary of the Webster
Picnic held in the Lucknow Arena
on June 19th. A special church
service was held. Sunday morning
in the Lucknow United Church.
Mrs. Cora Johnston, Listowel
has been holidaying with Mr. and
Mrs. Ed. Fischer, at the. Corner
Restaurant.
Mr. and Mrs. BobHumphries,
Kathy and Jim of London visited
on the week end at the horne of
Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Humphries.
There will be no mail de-,
livered on Saturday or Monday,
July 1 - 3.
Mr. Martin Baan and son,
David Baan, are holidaying with
relatives. in Holland for three
weeks.
Mr. Jack•Webster Edmonton
Mr. and Mrs. Watson Webs-
ter, Clinton, visited recently with
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and
Mr. and Mrs. Don Maier and
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pritchard
and family, London, visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Wat-
son.
We are sorry to report that
Norman Williamson is ill In
Victoria Hospital, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Taylor and
family of Lucknow spent the week
end at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Rollie Achilles and visited other
relatives in the community.
Mr. Ray Iluether, Watson Reid
and Frank Kirkby attended a
beef barbecue as guests of the
John Deere Company at Exeter.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Watson,
David, Anne and Mary attended
a tea at St. Joseph's Hospital;
London, Friday afternoon and
the graduation at Alumni Hall'
University Western Ontario that
night of their daughter, Miss
Sandra Watson. Mr. and WS.
Bari Watson alSO attended the
tea and graduation of their grand-,
daughter.
Mrs. Glen Pryce, of
Vancouver is visiting Mr. and
Mrs, James Smith and attended
the service at Duff's United
Church, Walton, on Sunday.,
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Fischer
have disposed of their Corner
Restaurant, the new owners Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Gies, Will take
over their new duties on July
1st, Saturday.'
The Lost and Found Group
are hoping for better weather
on the night of the Intermediate
ball game, July 6th at the Walton
Park, as they plan to have a
booth.
Miss Linda Gibson of Gorrie
is holidaying with Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Watson and family.
Mr. and Mrs. George McCall
visited on Sunday with Mr s.L izzie
Scott, Albert and Robert Vodden
in Clinton,
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Scott Sr.,
Blyth and Mrs. Nelson Reid,
Walton, visited recently at the
home of their cousin, Mr. and
Mrs. Stimore of Stratford.
