John Hoover has been
appointed to the position of As-
sistant Director of Libraries Col-
lections Development at Uni-
versity of Western Ontario ,
In addition to his former dut-
ies as collections analyst;- Mr.
Hoover will be responsible for the
overall direction of the division
including the formulation of Col-
lections Development Policy,
recommending priorities for the
addition of materials to the Uni-
versity Library System, the ap-
praisal of existing resources,
initiation of research on library
records and trends in the growth
of the collections and the coord-
ination of the work of Collections
Development with that of the other
divisions in the University Lib-
rary System.
Senior personnel in the Div-
ision (Collections appraiser and
coordinator of Collections Lib-
rarians) report to Mr. Hoover
who in turn reports directly to
the University Chief Librarian.

35th wedding anniversary at the

Horse Inn they were entertained
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Thompson.
It also was a special occasion
for Mrs. Johnston' s mother, Mrs.
Brown, who celebrated her 88th
birthday.

Brussels has a novelty among her
flowers.
A beautiful red dahlia which
was in full bloom last week is
most unusual so early in the
season.
About to plant dahlias that
had been stored in the basement
during the winter months, she
found one was already a tall
sturdy plant with healthy buds.
Planted outdoors, in a relatively
shady sport, it suffered no ill
effects and rapidly matured into
flower.
Roy Charlton of Bradford,
who died following a recent car
crash, was the husband of Marion
Lake, a former Brussels resi-
dent. Mr. Charlton, who was
a policeman, was 44 years of
age. The funeral services were
held on Tuesday. Mrs. Muriel
