An inter-School Field. Day
took place at the East Wawanosh
Public School, on FridaY. About
300 children from the Blyth,
BrOokSide, Brussels, Colborne
Central, TurnberrY Central and
East wawanosh SohnOls were all
keen nompetitors. Although the
weather threatened to, hamper
proceedings, by noon it was im-
proved, and ether than a chilly,
breeze, proved satisfactory for
the completion of ail events.
The Individual champions who
received trophies for their ef-
forts were: Carol Wheeler, Brus-
sels, Junior Girl; Scott. Wheeler,
Brussels, Junior Boy; Lori Ann
Hesselwood, Blyth, Intermediate
Girl and Janet Cook, East W wan-
osh, Intermediate Girl (tied); Tim
Heifer, Turnberry, Intermediate
Boy; Cathy MacPhee, Colborne,
Senior Girl; David Dunbar, East
Wawanosh, Senior Boy.
A trophy, to be awarded each
year, to the School attaining the
highest number of points, was
donated by the Belgrave-Lucknow
District Co-operatives. East Wa-
wanosh received the trophy with
Brussels placing 2nd and Brook-
side, third.
ROBERTSON FAMILY GATHERS
A get-together of the Robert-
son family, in honour of Mr.
and Mrs. Gordon McBurney's
30th wedding Anniversary, was
held on Sunday at the home of
Mr. and Mrs.' Alex Robertson.
Those attending were Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon McBurney, Ronald
McBurney of Hamilton, Mr. and
Mrs. Dawson Craig, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Craig and Lana, and

The Belgrave Men's Choir
held their annual dinner and soc-
ial evening in the Bluevale United
Church Sunday School rooms with
the Bluevale U.C.W. catering.
Ross Procter expressed ap-
preciation to the U.C.W. for the
dinner. Mrs. Mel Craig res-
ponded for the ladies.
George Johnston acted as
Master of Ceremonies for ,a
short impromptu programme.
Brenda Johnston, Nancy Ander-
son and Marjorie Procter sang
several numbers, followed by a
piano solo by Steven Sallows, the
choir pianist. Solos by George
Procter, Rev. John Roberts and
Geroge Johnston; Readings by
Clifford Coultes, Highlights on
a recent tour to England and
Scotland by Gilbert Beecroft,
and several numbers by the Mouth
Organ Band, composed of Harvey
McDowell, Arnold Cook, Lloyd
Walden, Albert Bieman, Ross
Anderson, Keith Weber, accom-
panied by Mrs. George. Johnston
on the piano and Alex Robertson
on the banjo.
Rev. John Roberts conducted
a short business period, after
which several games were en-
joyed.

their son, Arnold, who received
his Master of Education degree
in Convocation Hall, Toronto
University on Thursday. Those

Mr. and Mrs . Bruce Mar-

rict Hospital.

HOLD FLOWER SERVICE
The Annual Belgrave United
Church Sunday School Anniver-
sary and Flower Service was
observed Sunday with a special
service in the church. All mem-
bers of the Sunday School took
part in a demonstration pro-
gramme of songs and recitations
called "Mountains of Meaning".
Appropriate decorations of
flowers made a beautiful setting
for the service.
WORK ON BADGES
The Belgrave Junior Auxil-
iary met on Saturday morning
in the Orange Hall with 10 girls
present. Sheila Anderson opened
the meeting leading in the games.
President April McBurney led
in the opening exercises. The
roll call was in charge of Sheila
Anderson. Minutes were read
by Connie Meurs. The treasur-
er's report was given by Lisa
Thompson. Leaders for the next
meeting - Games, Betty Meurs;
Sing-song - Lisa Thompson; to
help with worship service - Cathy
Shiell; clean-up girl - April Mc-
Burney; April McBurney helped
with the worship service and
Cathy Shiell collected the offer-
ing. Kelly Lougheed recited the
offertory prayer. The girls
Worked on stripe and badge work.
Cathy Shiell led in the sing song
"Now we close our meeting"
was sung, followed by the closing
prayer.
GRADUATES FROM ALMA
Graduation exercises were
held at Alma College onWednes-
day, June 7th when Mary Anne
Wheeler, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler, Belgrave
graduated. Those attending were
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler,
Mrs. Pearl Wheeler, Mrs. Ethel
Wheeler, Mrs. G. G. Wheeler, Mr.
C.R. Coultes, Mrs. James
Coultes, Mrs. Edward Watson,
Misses Margaret McLaughlin and
Evelyn Bieman. The highlight of
the exercise was the address to
the graduating class by Gov-
ernor-General Roland Michener.
