The Brussels Post, 1972-05-31, Page 10ALL FABRICS REDUCED SPECIAL REDUCTION GOOD UNTIL JUNE 15TH News of Huronview The Kingsbridge Women's Institute were hosts on Wednesday afternoon, for the May birthday party with volunteers from the Beta Sigma Phi and Clinton Christian Reform Church. The program consisted of a special program prepared by the Kingsbridge Roman Catholic SchOol students. Dianne Van Rooey, Bridget Dalton, Jo- anne Doherty, Nellie Kno0P, Sheila Sinnett, Lucilla Frayne, Marg Van Diepen and Mary Louise Clare sang several favourite songs accompanied at the piano by Marianne Frayne, Sheila Sinned favoured us with a dance number. Public speeches on 4 ;The Huron. County pioneer Mus- eum" by Marianne Frayne and "A Trip to the British Isles" by Mary LouiSe Clare were enjoyed. Gifts, were presented to the twenty-five residents having May birth- days by the Institute ladies. Birthday cake and tea were served. Jim Gibbons; a native of Kingsbridge, thanked the ladies and students on behalf of the residents. A group of young people from the Brussels area provided the program for Family Night. This consisted of Scottish and Irish dances, step dances, and the Charle- ston. Taking part in the dance numbers were Catherine Cardiff, Susan Langlois Carol Wheeler and Marg Lynn Cardiff. There were piano duets and solos by Linda Machon,Carol Wheeler and Vickie Machon; vocal duets and solos by Vickie and Julie McCdl, Alan Cardiff and Dale Wheeler. Mrs. Cardiff, formerly of Brussels, ex- pressed the appreciation of the residents for a fine hour of entertainment. We would like to thank the relatives and friends of some of the residents who attend the programs on Thursday evening and assist along with the volunteers in getting the residents encouraged to come to the auditorium. Won (Continued from Page 1) problem was an unsightly and bothersome nuisance. *** *** *** *** Nancy Fischer of Listowel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hartley Fischer, Listowel placed first in the senior girls' solo class for grades seven and eight, at the recent Listowel Central School Music Festival. She was also the winner of the Singing Star Trophy, awarded to the solo winner obtaining the highest total points for participation in solo, duet and trio classes. Her parents are former residents of Brussels and she is the granddaughter of Mrs. J. W. Fischer of Brussels. Those who viewed the Lions Club parade in Kitchener on Sun- day, either with the crowds that lined the parade route or on television, must now realize the tremendous enthusiasm of Lions that inspires the great variety of projects they undertake for the good of their communities. Many of the general public are not aware of, or do not appreciate, their efforts. The parade was held in connection with the Ontario Quebec Lions convention held in Kitchener this week.
