The girls of the 13elgrave
CGIT held their annual Mother
and Daughter Banquet in the
Sunday School rooms of Knox
United Church, Belgrave, May
16th. The tables were decorated
With navy blue streamers and
tiny flower shaped favours and
tall white candles. Buffet style
meal was served by the members
of the 13elgrave U.C.W.
Darlene Coultes, President of
the group acted as Master of
Ceremonies.
Each girl was accompanied
by her mother or guest and there
were also several mystery
mothers present for the evening
when they met the girl who had
sent her messages and gifts
throughout the winter months.
During a short intermission,
Nancy Anderson played several
pieces on the piano. This was
followed by Margaret Arbuckle
with "Grandma's Off Her
Rocker". Marilyn Robertson in-
troduced the guest speaker, Mrs.
M. Emerson of Ripley who showed
films of her trip to paris
and France during the school
winter break. She had many
sights to show and gave an en-
joyable account of the tours. She
was thanked by Barbara Moore.
Doreen Taylor read a poem "How
is a Mother Remembered".
Three graduate girls were
honoured this year with gifts on
graduating from C.G.I.T. Those
presented were Ila Scott, Nancy
Anderson and Marilyn Robertson.
A fourth girl, Gail Mayberry was
unable to attend.
Mrs. John Roberts and Mrs.
Richard. Moore introduced the
three girls who were grads this
year and performed a short grad-
uating ceremony. Several of the
girls received gifts from their
mystery mothers.
Hold Euchre
Twelve tables of euchre were
played in the Belgrave Communi-
ty rooms last Wednesday even-
ing. Winners for the evening
were: High Lady - Mrs. John
Anderson; Low Lady - Mrs.
Sewers; 2nd. High Lady - Mrs.
Gershom Johnston; 2nd. low
lady - Mrs. Stella Pocaluyko;
High Man - Fred Porter; Low
Man - Gene Porter; 2nd. High
Man - C. R. Coultes ; 2nd. Low
JR. AUXILIARY
HAS MEETING
The Belgrave Junior
Auxiliary met in the Orange Hall
and opened with games led by
Alison Roberts. April McBurney,
the president, led in the opening
exercises. Sheila Anderson took
charge of the roll call. Minutes
were read by Connie Meurs.
Alison Roberts gave the treasur-
er's report. Leader for the next
meeting, games - Judy Carmi-
chael; sing-song - Cindy
Campbell; To help with worship
service - April McBurney; clean
up girl - Audrey Scott.
Cindy Campbell helped with
the worship service. The offer-
ing was collected by Dianne
Scott and Cindy Campbell and
the offertory prayer was recited
by Kelly Lougheed.
Joanne Edgar was welcomed
as a guest. The girls worked on
stripe and badge work. The next
meeting will be Saturday
morning. The sing-song was
led by Bonnie Walker.

at the Ripley United Church on
Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Telford Cook spent the
week end with Mr. and Mrs.

wedding at Ripley.

Barbara visited with friends
in Windsor last week end.

the Delmore area spent Sunday
evening with their cousins, Mr.

Fourteen 4-H Girls Clubs
gathered in the. F. E. Madill High
School on Saturday for Achieve-
ment Day. The completed pro-
ject was "Sleepwear".
The clubs presented - a
"Fashion Show" with each girl
modelling her garment to musical
accompaniment and comments by
•one of the girls of her group.
The three Belgrave Clubs with
their leaders were in attendance.
Presentation of County
Honour Certificates and pins was
made to June Leishman, Joan
Black and Kathy Dunbar of Bel-
grave. Marian McGee of Bel-
grave II group received her
Provincial Honour Certificate
and Pin.
Congratulations are extended
to Mrs. Clark Johnston, Mrs.
Clarence Yuill, Mrs. Alex
Robertson, Mrs. Peter Chandler,
Mrs. Glenn Coultes and Mrs.
James Hunter for their fine
leadership and to the girls for
their excellent work. "Learn
to do, by doing."
Mr. and Mrs. Willard Arm-
strong visited on Sunday with Mr.
and Mrs. David Hanna and
Man - Mrs. Lorne Jamieson
(playing as a man).

the. W.O.S.S.A. in Sarnia on
Saturday. She placed fifth in
the niirciie class, and, sixth in
long jump. She competed against
18. She represented Huron-
Perth for F r E.Madill Secondary
School.
Honor couple
A large crowd gathered at
the Belgrave Women's In-
stitute Hall Friday evening for
a reception and dance in honour
of Mr. and Mrs. Murray. Nesbitt
(nee Connie Nethery). Music
was provided by the Blenders.
After lunch was served, the
young couple were called to the
platform where Glen Van Camp
read an address and James
Hunter presented them with a gift
of money. Both Connie and
Murray made a fitting reply.
