On two occasions during the
past two weeks .the basement of
Brussels United Church has
resounded to the sounds of ham-
mers, as work bees were held
by the men preparing the floor
for a new carpet. Proof once
again that many hands make light
work, the carpet now has been
laid and adds to the decor of the
entrance and basement.
Five members from the
Huron County Junior Farmers
Choir assisted with the service
on Sunday, April 9. Their full
choir will be present on May 14.
Last Sunday, "The Inspirat-
ions" from Guelph were on hand.

friends of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Fischer arranged a surprise
party for them on the occasion
of their 25th wedding a.nniver-
wives and husbands were guests
for refreshments in the church
basement. At both services the
music was a treat and the atten-
dance most encouraging and
gratifying. A return engagement
is planned for May 14 and May 28.
On Sunday April 3Q the
"Leithe Band" will make their
last appearance before the
holidays.

UCW meets
The U.C.W. of Bluevale United
Church met Wednesday afternoon
in the S.S. Room with Mrs. Harvey
Edgar in charge.
Group 1 led by Mrs.George
Lowis had charge of the worship
service. The Scripture Lesson
was read by Mrs. Timm. Mrs.
Lowis' talk on the theme, "fault-
finding" was preceded by a skit
by Miss E. Johnston, Mrs. P.
Vincent and Mrs. DeKoiyer il-
lustrating the topic.
Mrs. DeKoiyer sang a solo
accompanied by pianist, Mrs.
Glen Sellers.
The Roll Call was answered
by an Easter verse and the
contribution of an article for
local welfare.
The convener of bale and
supply, Mrs. Sperling Johnston,
sfibke about her department and
plans were made to prepare a
bale to be shipped in June.
A "thank you" letter was
read from Lom Lai Ying, the
group's adopted child in Hong
Kong, for a Christmas parcel.
A decision was made to buy
a number of the new hymnals
for the use, of the Junior Choir.
Mrs. Edgar reported on the
U.C.W. Presbyterial held in
Stratford.

April 12. She was /3.
The former Laura Jane
Knight, she was born in Morris
Township the daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Knight.
She Was predeceased by her
husband in 1968 but is survived
by a sister Edna, Mrs. James
McDonald of Grey Township.
Mrs. Armstrong was a
Member of Duff's United Church,
Walton.
Funeral services were Con-
ducted on Friday at the M. L.
Watts Funeral Home, Brussels
by her minister Rev. D. Docket.
Interment followed in Brussels
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James
Bowman, James Ireland, 'James
Mair, Donald McDonald, Kenneth
McDonald and Murray Huethet.
