THE HURON SIGNAL, FRIDAY, OCT. 14, 1881.
And so it proved under the examin-
ation, of the nearest practitioner, and
then Derrick remembered a wrench and
shock which he hid felt in L.wrie's last
desperate uffurt to recover himself.
Some of the small b. nes had broken.
Grace called In t1 . surgeon himself,
and stood by during the strapping and
bandaging with an atiziuu face, really
suffering as vouch as De , perhaps
a trifle more. He would not hear of his
going home that night. but insisted that
he should remain where he was.
'I can sleep un the lounge myself,' he
protested. 'And though I shall 1e ob-
liged to leave you for half an hour, I
assure you I Bluth not be away a lunger
time.'
'Where are you going r asked Derrick.
'To the Rectory. Mr. Ilarholm sent
a message an hour ago, that he wished
to .ee me ui on business.'
• Fergus agreed t.. rennin. When
Grace was on the point Of leaving the
room, he turned his head.
'You are going to the Rectory, you
say 1' he remarked.
'Yea'
'Do you think you shall see Aniee r
'It is very probable,' confusedly.
'I merely thought I would ask you not
to mention this affair to her,' &aid Der-
rick. The curate's face assumed an ex-
pression at that moment, which it was
well that ht. friend did not see. A
shadow of bewilderment and anxiety fell
upon it and the colour faded away.
'You think—' faltered he.
'Well, I thought that perhaps it would
shuck or alarm her,' answered Derrick.
'She might fancy it to have been a more
serious matter than it was.'
'Very .well. I think you are right,
perhaps.'

DUNGANNON SHOW.
t 1 Exhibition Felder the Aasplres of
the .asbarld and rrawaaws►Agrtraltaral
aeelely.
The annual fall show under the auspi-
ces of the Ashfield and Wawanosh Ag-
ggricultural Society, was held in the vil-
lage of Dungannon, on Friday Let, and
was fairly sucoemsful. The horses were
particularly guod,'and among the exhi-
bitors we noticed Messrs Harvey Howell,
Jas. Weatherhead, W. R. Robertson,
S. Alton, W. Glen, A. Young, Sprung,
Hugh Girvin, Thomas Anderson, R.
Mutch and others. Lt thoroughbreds,
Thos. Anderson, Chas. Girvin, sr., and
J. H. Gardner, were the chief competi-
tors. Grade cattle was an excellent
showing, and animal appeared from the
stockyards of Chas. Girvin, Hugh Ruth-
erford, HuXh Girvin, Thos. Anderson,
and others whose names • will be found
in the prize list. Chas. Girvin, sr., and
R Wilson, showed Cotswold., while
Leicester* were un the ground ton, the
pens of J. 0. Stewart, Colborne, and E.
Gaunt, and W Glen, Wawanosh. Pigs
were not numerous, but poultry was a
good showing. The exhibit of grain
was a fairly large one, and the quality
was of a high standard of excellence.
Roots was also a good average show, and
vegetables did not appear to be injured
to any appreciable extent by the sum-
mer's drought. Fruit was very light,
and it was in this particular, as well as
in the floral diAiotay that then exhibition
was not up the ..verAge The table in
the ladles' department was well tilled,
and some of the work waw of a -high or-
der. In carriages, T. & J. Story, of
Goderich, and J. Brydges, ..f Dungan-
non were the chief exhibitors. Dairy
produce and' home-made bread was of
good quality, and your reporter was
kindly invited to partake of some of the
1st prize articles. The number of visi-
tors was large. and the greatest satis-
faction was manifested throughout. Our
townsman, Mr. S. Seegmiller, was on the
?round with a couple of excellent chilled
plows, which were the centre of attrac-
tion to al golly number of the sturdy
agriculturists during the day. Our
thanks are due to Messrs. W. McArthur,
J. M. Roberts,Chas. Girvin and the oth-
er officers of the Society for courtesies
extended during the day. The following
