The former Brussels school will be remembered by many of the Brussels old boys
and girls who will return for the centennial celebrations next summer. The school was
torn down about ten years ago after having been in use for 65 years. This is one in a ser-
ies of pictures which is appearing in the Post during centennial year.

Grades 5 to 8 had the pleas-
ure of putting on an off Broadway
play "Mary Poppins" which was
a great success according to
both students and teachers.
This year our Public Speaking
was not too much different from
the former years. The winners
for this year were: Grade 5 -
•Shelley Long , "Chinchillas";
Grade 6 - Susan Langlois"Black
Donnellys"; Grade 7 - Bill King,
"Horses"; Grade 8 - Beth Val-
iance "Bruce Trail-hiking".
Beth Valiance went on to speak
at Wingham.
SPORTS
We have had a very interesting
and successful sports program
this winter. With our intermural
volleyball at noon hours we have
quite a busy time. In grades five
and six, Keith McLean's team,
Gail White's and Lorie McLory's
team are all tied for first place
with six points each. The grade
seven and eight teams have only
one team in lead but the rest
not far behind. Our top team is
Laureen Barbour's with eight
points.
On February fifth the girl's
volleyball team was going to go
to Goderich for a volleyball
tournament but it was cancelled
till the following Saturday when
we will play Hensall, Brookside,
Grey, .Turnberry, Robertson, Mt.
Carmel, 13elgrave, St. Boniface,
Colborne, Howick, Zurich and
Ste. Marie, also Victoria.
Besides our organized sports
we have our everyday winter
sports of snowballing, usually
boy vs. girls.

An officer who had received a
complaint about the hard bread
the enlisted men were expected
to eat, snapped angrily, "If
Napoleon had had that bread in
Russia, he would have eaten it
with the greatest pleasure."
"Yes, Sir," said the sergeant,
"but it was fresh then, Sir!"
