Mrs. Gerald Watson was in charge of the meeting and Mrs. Neil. McGavin acted aS pianist. Mrs. Wm, Humphries read minutes and the treasurer's report. The Roll Call was ans- wered by "My Favourite Cheese Dish," Committee responsible for the euchre on. February 4th includes Mrs. Allan McCall,Mrs. Jack Gordon, Mrs. Wm. Hum- phries and. Mrs. Ralph Traviss. Mrs. Murray Smith, Mrs. Jim Nolan, Mrs. Earl Watson and. Mrs, Nell McGavin are the corn, mittee in charge for the euchre on February 18th. The conveners of Agriculture and Canadian Industries, Mrs, Neil McGavin and Mrs. Laverne Godkin, took over the meeting. Mrs. N, McGavin gave a reading using words of olden times and comparing with modern expres- sions. Miss Catharine Hunt, Home Economist of Clinton and Mrs. Larry Wheatley , assistant, of Seaforth were guests. Miss Hunt explained the "Making of Cheese" and that it consists of protein, calcium, fat, vitamin A and Riboflavin. A 1 1/4 inch cube of cheese is equal to a 7 oz. glass of milk, 1 serving of meat, fish cr poultry is equal to 2 oz. of, cheese. In caring for cheese, it should be kept clean, cold and tightly wrapped. A cheese tray was displayed show- ing many kinds of cheese. Mrs. Larry Wheatley dem- Ons.tr4ted the making of SwiPs Cheese Fondue and Zesty Cheese Fonda, Later it was sampled with French bread and recipes were giver out. Mrs. Laverne Godkin thanked the speakers and pre- sented them with a gift. Lunch was served by.the host, • eases Mrs. Ron Bennett, Mrs. Pete McDonald, Mrs. Jack. Gordon. and Mrs. Ralph Traviss. Sympathy of the community is extended to Jim Clark and family, also Maude Leeming and. W. J. Leeming, on the sudden passing of Mrs. Clark (the for- mer, Kathleen Leeming,) In the Sea-forth Community Hospital last Thursday following a brief illness. Miss Alisson Traviss of Kit- chener spent a few days with her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Herb Traviss while her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Brian Traviss were snowmobiling with friends in the Haliburton district. John Van Vllet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jan Van Vliet Jr., has returned home from List- owel Memorial Hospital where he was a patient for a few days. Neil Mcgavin 44111 this area, enjoyed skiing on the weekend at Madonna Mountain, Stowe and Jay Park, Vermont. Others that took in the same event were Murray Cardiff, president of the Hanover Ski Club, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Armstrong, Doug Lowe, Bruce Raymond, Maurine Hanna, Leo. McDonald and Dr. Peter Hemingway. Mrs. Faye WM:1.PM of the Walton area is the instructor again this year at the Brussels Arena. Many Walton and area children are registered for the Figure Skating instructions which are well underway. Mrs. Jack Cardiff is president of the figure skating association with Mrs. Ivan Campbell, treauserer and Mrs. Doug Evans as secretary. After dinner draws were made at Seaforth Curling Rink on the three sheepskin rugs, donated by Stewart McCall, McGavin Farm Equipment and Herb Traviss. The winners were Mrs. Marg a ret Sallows, Seaforth; Wayne Glanville, Crediton and Ron McKay, Clinton. Represents Brussels In Speaking Beth Valiance represented Brussels public school in an Oral Communications Festival at Wingham Public school on Wednesday. She was the grade 8 winner in the January 21 public speaking contest held in Brus- sels school. Susan Langlois and Fern Elliott will represent Brussels in . the Legion Contest being held in the Legion Hall, Goderich on February 12th. Winners in the Brussels Pub- lic Speaking event were: Grade 5, Shelley Long, "Chin- chillas"; .Grade 6, Susan Lang- lois, "The Black Donnellys"; Grade 7, Bill King, "Horses"; Grade 8, Beth Valiance, "Hiking". Judges were Miss Jan Thom- as, Kindergarten Teacher; Rev. Stan Macdonald, Londesboro; and Paul Elgie, F. E. Madill Secon- dary School.
