McFariane, CHILDREN OF THE CHURCH The Children of the Church met in the church parlour on Sunday morning. The meeting opened with the roll call and payment of fees. The Secretary and. Treasurer's Report was given. The Bible reading, St. Matthew 4;23-25 was read by Peggy Gibson followed by the prayer by Joan Mair. "Go tell it on the Mountain" was sung after which Mrs. Ralph Haveman read a story about a boy who lived in Nigeria, Africa. WORLD THUNDER MUG RACES The sub-zero weather cut down on this hilarious race this year. The winners: Men: 1st. Max Watts and Wayne Lowe; Ladies' 1st. Anne Bos- man and Ruth Lowe. The Moccasin Dance at the Arena Saturday night was a popular spot and a good number enjoyed dancing to the music of Earl Einweister Polka Band. At the same time a teen dance was held at the Public School with the Weschester Union supplying the music. The Snowmobile Races drew a good number of entrants on Sunday afternoon. About 300 meals were served at the beef barbecue on Sunday afternoon. Wayne Hodges The Brussels Lions Polar Daize opened last Wednesday with a successful Bonspiel. Ent- ries were present from Wingham. Belmore, Wroxeter, Atwood, Monkton, Seaforth, Exeter, as well as seven rinks of Brussels curlers. There were many clos- ely contested games and some very low scoring games. The Brussels' ladies Curling Club served an excellent dinner,which drew much favourable comment from the visitors. The Winners were; 9 A.M.
