Miller were named as Morris' representa- tives on Brussels, Morris and Grey Recreation Committee for 1972, Robt, Grasby was appointed to Blyth Recreation Committee for 1972 and council recommended "that Ross Smith and Standeyelop- per be appointed to the Belgrave Arena Board. Wm. Elston and Thos. Mil- ler were named as representa- tives on the Blyth. Fire Area Board and Jas. Mair and Ross Smith on. Wingham and District Fire Area Board. Council agreed that*leraig be recommended to Wingham and District Hospital Board as Mor- ris' representative for 1972 and that Walter Shortreed be ap- pointed to Seaforth Community Hospital Board to represent Mor- ris for 1972. Wm. Elston, Council member be appointed for one year and Stewart Proctor non-Council member were appointed for two years to the Wingham and Dist- rict Pianning Board. Thorne, Gunn, Helliwell and Christensen were named auditors Council set convention expen- ses for attendance at one con- vention at $15 per day plus ex- penses. A motion by Ross Smith, sec- onded by Robt. Grasby that re- muneration for 1972 for Reeve be $575. and for each Councillor $450 was carried over an amend- ment by Jas. Mair, seconded by Thos. Miller that Reeve receive $550. and each Councillor $425. Renume.ration for Wm. Mc- Arter, road superintendent was set at $2.75 per hour plus 10 cents per mile plus $15. per month for bookkeeping. A grant of $15. was given Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada and the Reeve and Clerk were to sign an agreement re assistance when necessary from Teeswater-Culross or Lucknow Fire Departments. Council agreed to discontinue an agreement with Grey and Mc- Killop for the use of Walton Waste Disposal Site. Moved by Robt. Grasby secon- ded by Ross Smith that By-law No. 2, 1972, allowing the Treas- urer and the Reeve to borrow on the credit of the "municip ality up to $125,000. from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Com- merce, Wingham be passed. A grant of $150. was approved for Brussels Medical-Dental Centre. Accounts paid included: Roads, $3,366.93, General, $1,622.98 for a total of $4,989.91. A public meeting is being held this week at the Zurich Community Centre when a member of the Huron County Planning Department will be present. - - Bayfield Council held their first meeting of the New Year. - - -Oneof the main discussions centred around the traffic by-laws in the village and included snowmobiles. Council felt if the snowmobilers did not comply with the request to use discretion, then a stricter control will have to be enforced. The Goderich Signal-Star states that Sergeant R.F. Keene, Detachment Commander of the Goderich Ontario Provincial Police, has been promoted to Staff Sergeant and is being transferred, to the Petrolia Detachment as Detachment Commander. - - - The proposed Goderich Intermediate Hockey Club which has been a topic of discussion in sports circles for some time, became a reality on Sunday when a group of individuals interested in the project met, officially formed the group and elected officers for 1972. Two exhibition games are scheduled for the near future. The new club hopes to be entered in competition next year with teams from Seaforth, Kin- cardine, Port Elgin and Mitchell. - - - Mr. and Mrs. Robert SoWerby, Goderich, were honored by a family dinner Saturday on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. A large crowd, according to the Lucknow Sentinel attended the benefit dance in the Legion Hall for Mr. and Mrs. Jim Arnold, who lost their store, home and all their furnishings in a recent fire. Over $1,600 was realized at the benefit. From the Listowel Banner we note that Robert Farrish has been named the PUG chairman for 1972 . - - The Listowel. Bowling Alley, owned and operated for the past 18 years by Mr. and Mrs. John Duke, has been sold to Ernest Webb of Burlington. - - - Trinity United Church, Listowel, on Sunday paid tribute to its former choir master, Lorne Willits. Mrs. Willits, a soloist and choir member, was also hono'rede The couple served the church for 34 years. - - - Fifty year Jewels were pre- sented to three Masons at a meeting held in Wroxeter recently to Sheriff Hamilton Gibson, Arthur Bertram Wearring and John Howard Wylie. All three are veterans of World War 1 and are members of Forest Lodge No. 162 A.F. & A.M., Wroxeter. Ed Tinning, R.R. 2, St. Pauls and William A. Road- house, R.R, 5, Stratford, were presented with 40-year pins, according to the Mitchell Advocate, members of the Perth County Holstein Breeders' Association. - - - Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Feltz, Mitchell, were honored recently on their 40th wedding anniversary. - - -Mrs. William Marshall, her son Allan and Mrs. Don Conley escaped the Marshall home Tuesday afternoon when it became enveloped in smoke. The fire originated in a clothes closet in the back bedroom of the small one- storey house rented by the Marshalls in Sebringville. The house is the property of peter Maloney, Dublin. A by-law, most of which was prepared by the Clinton Snowmobile Club,- was passed by Clinton Council, accord- ing to the Clinton News-Record, after a great deal of discussion. Those found guilty under the by-law are liable to fines of $20 to $103. - - - Clinton Commercial Printers Limited of 56 Albert Street has been purchased by Thomas H. Coiquhoun and John E. Robinson from A. Laurie Col- quhoun. The new owners are former employees of the printing plant and no staff changes are anticipated at present. - - - Clinton will have the same garbage collector as before for the next three years. Tenders for the collection were opened at Clinton Town Council meeting Monday and Clarence Neilans had the lowest tender of five received. The tender was for $11,000. The Exeter Times-Advocate, reports that the Association for Mentally Retarded met Tuesday night and after many reports, financial explanations from experts and discus- sions, the local association for the -mentally retarded paSsed a motion to purchase a $45,000, 100 acre farm with the Goderich and Wingham Associations for a sheltered workshop. , The farm, owned by CarmanRowcliffe,Seaforth, is situated directly south of the former Canadian Forces Base, Clinton, with frontage on both Highway 4 and on the paved road running east and west. Case Van Raay, chair- man of the workshop committee said the next step will be to organize a giant fund raising campaign to cover all of Huron. Plans toward this will start immediately.
