Entertain Township. Officials
On Saturday December 11th, at
1. p.m. Reeve and Mrs. William
Elston entertained members of
Morris Township. Council and
other Officials and their wives at
a turkey dinner at their home.
Following an evening of play_
ing cards and social time James
Mair thanked Mr, and Mrs. Elston
for their hospitality and Robert
Grasby presented them with a
gift.
CHRISTMAS MEETING OF
U.C.W. AFTERNOON UNIT
The Afternoon Unit of the
Brussels U. C. W. held their
Christmas meeting at the home of
Mrs. Bann, with 23 attending. The
Vice President, Mrs. Thomas, was
in charge. She led a very effective
devotional period, consisting of
a poem, "Christmas is . ,"; Hymn
"Angels from the Realms of
Glory"; the reading of Scriuture
Luke 2:7-20 was interspersed by
the lighting of candles by Mrs.

Mrs.. Miller, Mrs. Firby, Mrs. W.
Turnbull, Mrs. Kitchen, Mrs. .1.
Turnbull, and appropriate Christ-
mas carols. Mrs. Hemingway led
in prayer, and Mrs. Hupfer gave a
most inspiring talk, "Christmas
Thoughts". Mrs. Cousins read a
charming Christmas story. Charlie
Buck played Chrismas music on
his accordian, and Mrs. Bryans
favoured with piano selections.
Mrs. Hemingway submitted the.
report of the nominating commit-
tee as follows;— President, Mrs.
Thomas; Vice-President, Mrs.
Miller; Secretary, Mrs. Hupfer;
Treasurer. Miss Skelton; Pianists,
Mrs. W. Turnbull and Mrs.
Cousins; Study Book, Miss Lucas.
The afternoon closed with a
delicious lunch served by the host-
ess and several helpers.
The next meeting will he on
,fanuary 4, at Mrs. Bray's home.

CHRISTMAS 'MEETING
The Christmas meeting of the
Majestic Women's Institute was
held on December 9th,
Following the reading of a
Christmas message Mrs. Leona
Armstrong welcomed a large
number of members and guests
to the Chrismas program spon-
sored by the branch directors,
Mrs. Torn Strachan, Mrs. Marie
Davis and Mrs. Alex Steiss.
The usual business was eon-
ducted by the president and
assistant secretary, Mrs. Alex
Steiss. A committee consisting of
Mrs. Jennie Turn-bull, Mrs.
Alberta Smith and Mrs. Eleanor
Hemingway; was appointed to
look after the making of a centen-
nial quilt. Boxes for the shut-ins
will be packed a the library on
Wednesday afternoon, December
15th at 1:30 o'clock,
Mrs. Jennie Stra.chan took
charge of the program and after
reading a Christmas story on the
origin of the carol "Silent Night"
called on Miss Bonnie Pennington
for a musical number. She de-
lighted the audience with three
selections, accompanying herself
on the guitar.
Mrs, Marie Davis read an in-
spiring article taken from an old
Family Herald.
Mr. Alfred Knight was called on
tii -Shod' colored -slides—et hiS
recent trip to Alaska and the
Yukon and also some views of
Brussels and the surrounding
country. Mr Knight's interesting
comments as well as the pictures.

Mrs, Marie licTaggart, who was.
a delegate to the Guelph Area con-
vention in October gave a detailed
and interesting account of the

Chrigtmas carols were sung
with. Mrs. Walter Kerr at the
piano,
Mrs. Earl C.udmore, in tier usual
jovial manner, auctioned off the
packages of cookies which the
members had brought.
Santa Claus distributed the 50e
exchange gifts and wished every-
one the seasons greetings,
Lunch was served by Mrs. Tim
Smith. Miss Mae Skelton, Mrs.
Ada Armstrong and Mrs. Amy

The Annual Christmas Fair, an
event which gives the residents
an opportunity to do some Christ-
mas shopping, was held on Mon-
day. Each resident is given a
credit slip to select gifts from the
several tables which are arranged
in the craft room with tea and
cookies served in the Auditorium,
This project is sponsored and
arranged by the Women's Auxil-
iary with contributions from var-
ious organizations.

Members of the C.N.I.13, were
guests at the regional Christmas
party which was held on, Wednes-
day evening in the Mitchell United
Church.One hundred and twenty-
five members and their escorts
from Huron and Perth attended
the dinner which included turkey
and all the trimmings followed
by a sing-song and musical
numbers by the Stratford Barber
Shoppers.

arranged and directed a program
presented. by the Hi. C. group of
McIntosh United Church on Fam-
-By Night. Mr; George - Harkness
introduced the numbers which in-
cluded a guitar duet by Wendy
and Debbie :Bosley, accordian
solos by Barbara .Harkness a two-
act play "Wanted a Housekeeper".

Frances Inglis, a member of the
McIntosh U.C.W., expressed the
appreciation of the residents. The
Family Night program will be
held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Dec-

There will lie a Santa Claus
Parade at 2:00 p.m. with floats,
decorated snowmobiles, clowns
horses and riders, and costumed
characters with good prizes for
all classes.
While the children meet Santa
parents can shop at their leisure
in our well stocked stores.

THEIR LADIES AT
CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Lions held their annual
Christmas Party Oil Monday Dec-
ember 13 in the Legion when they
entertained their ladies,
Lion President, Henry Pixel
opened the meeting. A delicious
meal was enjoyed by almost one
hundred per cent attendance..
First Vice President Lion Jim
Knight proposed a toast to the
ladies to which Mrs. G. Mutter
replied.
Lion Albert ten Pas, in charge
of the program committee, intro-
duced Susati Langlois who favour-
ed her audience with dancing,
which wag followed by a skit
areeneted by Lion members. The
sing song was led by Lion Selwyn
Baker and Barb McCutcheon With
Lion Donald Dunbar tit the Piano.
The rest of the evening mitet-
teinnieet was proVided a
Gospel Group called the "Inspile;
ations" from Guelph, Which. Was
much efijoYed.
