Afternoon Group The December meeting of the Afternoon Group of the W.M.S was held at the home of Mrs. Mac Engel. Mrs. Stanley Fischer, the leader, opened the meeting with a Christmas• poem, and prayer and all joined in the Lord's Prayer. Mies Alice J, Forrest was pianist for the hymns and Christmas carols. The Christmas service from from the Glad Tidings was used with readers, Mrs. Engel, Mrs. Tesslie Gordon and Mrs, John Schnuck. In place of the usual topic each member was respon sible for a Christmas reading This resulted In a good variet5 of :•stories on Christmas customs in other lands and the origin of many of our present day ways of celebrating, etc.•The roll call was a verse of Scripture pertaining to Christmas. Cards and visits were recorded by Miss Forrest, Mrs. Clare Veiteh presided . for the election of officers and the fol- lowing is the slate of officers for the coming year: President Mrs .Earl Dunn Vice. Bride-Elect Showered A miscellaneous shower was held in the Community Centre on Friday evening for Miss. Jo-Anne Dunn. London, whose marriage to Bill Muchan takes place on Christmas Eve. The shoWer was arranged by Mrs. Stanley Fischer, Mrs. Norman Pfeifer and Mrs. Gordon Engel, The early part of the evening was spent playing game jo-Anhe, her mother, Mrs, Earl Dunn, and Mrs. Wm. Muchan of London, were seated in a group and corsages were pinned on them. Nov. 23, 1921, was almost iden- tical to whet it was on Saturday, when they celebrated their gold- - en anniversary by entertaining friends anti relatives at an open house held at their home in List- owed, "After our wedding we took a. week off," Mr, :McLellan said. "When. we got out to the farm in the first week in December, T. did some fall plowing -- with a team, we didn't have tractors in those days." The "weee off", taken by the young couple was spent at the home of the bride's parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John James Mayberry. The former Florence ;Mayberry, Mrs. 'McLellan. was born in Mornington Township as was her husband who is the son. of the date Mr, and Mrs. Peter Mc- Lellan The couple were. married :it the Presbyterian manse in Stretford by the late Rev. Finlay Mathe- son. Mr. MeLellan's farm was lo- cated on lot 35, con, 11 Elme Township and the eounle worked it until moving to Brussele about 1% years ago.
