The guest speaker Miss :Jessie
McPherson; told of .her service
for 21 years in a Women's Cor-
rectional Institution at Portage
La. Prairie, Manitoba. She describ-
ed the prison itself, and gave a
most enlightening view of the
Women who had come to her
throungh the years. She stressed
the act that it was not the duty
of the , prison to punish the girls„
but rather.,, to,,try to rehabilitate
them and teach them to get along
with other people in society. Miss
'McPherson noted that Most of the.
doliquency had been caused by
neglect and the laCkof loVe frOM
a very early ag.e. Love :is the
greatest healing ,agent in the
world.
