Elections are not what they used to be. Seventy years ego you stopped speaking to your neighbour it lie was a different political stripe, two weeks before an election and you ignored each other for two weeks after. At Browntown *01001 about 50 kids, 48 to be exact, end all Tories ex- cept the Maiwan boys off the firet. line. Jack Warwick .and myself. We fought every day with grits outnumbered about eight to one. The fights were about even because one good grit can lick eight or nine tories any day and as. for brains, well the tories hadn't any. T have had only one good argument .since this election was announced and I had to talk Tory to get it, This hurt me greatly. I have had pains ever since when I should only have my arthritis, been sick at my stom- ach too. It's a terrible thing to be' a criminal for even 20 minutes. Row be we ask our leaders to committee themselves an imagin- argy interview. Mr. Davis: You were Miniser of Education, when you doubled and trebled our school tax,. You closed down our schools built grand new structer- re; and put the kids on buses. Was there not just as smart people got to the little red school house by walking? You raised teachers salaries to away beyond what they. are worth. You have teachers who cannot and do not raise their own family to even behave properly, or even respect the law. Is this fair to a whole class room of pupils. Yoerigovernment spent or rather gave, away, almost .125 million dollars to create 6000 jobs. Finan- cially" you might have beet: better to have hired this number of people to just do nothing. You built a. 25 million monstrosity in Toronto for Toronto because there are thousands of rural tax payers who will never see it. Mr. Nixon: Liberal Leader: You intend to tarry on with the grant to seper- ate schools, with which I don't agree. To me' this is segregation. I think It good for kids to mix with others who have different ideas, different nationalities, dif- ferent color, They will have a broader view and work out, a. much more harmonious spirit than their own foolish parents. Mr. Lewis: You are "being backed" by the Labour unions where your party will receive its greatest support. People are fright Weed that labour i s getting too strong. VQe know they are over paid. Steel workers, sheet metal etc., etc.. I know we must have unions to protect our workers. but what about an all Canadian one. The ones we now have arc all. American, Due'5 go to the United States and Canadians don't have much say but they do have to join to get a job. Whet is your opinion on this subject? Well, T would, like to- make a few predictions after careful con- skieration and deep thought. Murray Gaunt will he the only elected Liberal in Ontario, Huron- Bruce is the senate of Canada. We elect for life. There will only be three Tories "get in" and Lloyd Michel will be the official leader of the Tory opposition. Barb McCutcheon and Sarah Stephenson will go on an extend- ed trip to the dark continent, Africa, Rhodesia, Abysynia.
