AFTERNOON UNIT
U. C. W. ,MEETING
On October 5th the Afternoon
Unit of the Brussels U. C W.
met at the home of Mrs, W. Turn,
bull.
The ThankSgiVing theme devo-
tions were led by MrS. deVries,
Mrs. J. Turnbull reading 'the
Scripture. The President, Miss
Skelton, took charge of thet bus-
iness. The roll call showed 15
members and four visitors present
and 18 calls reported. A pleasant
feature was that two of the
visitors were guests of the Turn-
bull s from Pennsylvania, who are
active members of a similar
group, and compared their work
and problems with ours. Later
they gave each lady a very large,
delicious nectarine grown in their
State.
The Thankoffering will be tak-
en at the November 14th morning
church service. Mrs. Thoma s and
Mrs. Hoover were appointed dele-
gates to the Regional meeting at
illluevale in November. Mrs.
Thomas read a story, "Dad's
Thanksgiving LamP". Mrs. Miller
introduced her Study with a
story, "Mary of Northern Ont,
arie", the Study topic being
Poverty. An interesting discussion
about this vital problem felloWed.
Mrs, Hoover and Miss Lucas
assisted Mrs. Turnbull in serving
lunch, The nest meeting will be
rl Noveti*or 20d,

GOLDEN WORDS
REMEMBER
If you think you are beaten, you
are;
If you think you dare not, you
don't;
If you like to win!, but think you
can't,
It's almost a. cinch, you Won't
If you think you'll lose, you've
lost, -
For out in the world you'll find,
Success begins with a person's
will,
It's all in the state of mind.
Think big , and your deeds will
grow,
Think small and you fall behind,
Think that you can, and you
,will;
It's all in' the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed,
you are;
;You've got to think big to rise;
You've got to he sure of yourself
before
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't. always go
To the stronger or faster man;
But sooner or later, the man who
wins
is the fellow who thinks he can.
