from among themselves..117 people to represent them. And, at the same
time, they will select one man as their Premier,

introduced, ,for the more than 130 items of legislation we have imple-

tance to firms investing in pollution control equipment. The banning
of logging in Quctico and KillarneyProvincial Parks. Summer employ,
ment for students in clean-up operations (Project SWEEP). The Endan-
gered Species Act. A. tougher line with corporate polluters. With clear
decisions and vigorous action likelh is, Ontario cart breathe a little easier.
The Davis govern meat's decision to halt the Spadina Expressway,
coupled with a pledge to provide greatly expanded assistance to mass
public transit, .has brought us closer to a rational solution of our trans--
portation problems.
The Provincial conference on. economic and cultural. nationalism.
reflects and also contributes to an expanding awareness the potential
of our country ind our people.
Davis decisions have helped the Canadian publishing industry;
special provisions have been written into Ontario Development Cor-
poration loans to encourage Canadian effort. to preserve and enhance
what is distinctive about our society.
And. there have been a great many other .Davis government (led-
sions...good decisions: No-fault car insurance. The task force for off-'
track betting. Expanded grants to day-care centres. Detoxification
centres. Expanded housing on a rent-gcared-to-income basis. Free
medicare for the needy, and for people 65 and over. And lowering
the age of majority,
Which brings us back to your decision, at the ballot box,
For democracy to succeed, it's not enough to talk about change,
Change must be made to happen. That's why Bill Davis is doing things:
