at the home of the bride"s parents
September 25, 1871 at 3 p.m. with
Rev.' Derwyn Docken officiating.
Traditional wedding music was
played by Mrs. Ray Huether. Dur-
ing the signing of the register,
Wedding .Prayer and 0 Perfect
Love was played.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride chose a white
floor-length gown of batiste with
a raised design in white... velvet.
The empire Waist was accent-
ed with a band of satin ribbon
with a large bow and streamers
at the back. The billowing long
sleeves had satin cuffs and a
stand-up collar of satin were
decorated with tiny white flower-
ed trim. The bottom of the hem
was also decorated with the same
trim. Her Veil was scalloped in
tiers and draped softly to the
waist. The attached 'headpiece
was of tiny pearls, flowers and
crystal sprigs in a filagree
design. She wore pearl earrings
and a keepsake breach of ame-
thyst and tiny pearls. Her boquet
was a cascade of sweetheart
roses and white carnations. • •
Her attendant, Susan McCall,
P,lyth, cousin of the bride, wore
a blue brocaded gown with a
slight raised design. The style
was princees with long fitted
sleeves. She wore blue earrings, a
gift from the bride, and blue
Paper rosettes in her hale: • Her
bouquet was a cascade of yellow
shasta daisies accented 'with, • a
few pinochio blue mum's..
Fred Stevenson, •Kitchener,
brother of the groom, was the
best man and the guests were
'ushered by Barry Currie, cousin
of the bride..
The groom's gift to the bride
was a Community Chest of cherry
wood.
The bride's mother received the
guests wearing. a 'gold .• polyester
crepe dress accented with a black
fringe around the hem. A match-
ing stole was also trimmed with
the black fringe. The style was
A-line with no sleeves. Her cor-
sage wa s of orange delight roses
and a gold ribbon. Her accessor-
ies were- black and white. She was
:assisted by the groom's mother
Wearing a coral and brown crimp-
lene dress. It was a straight
sheath with full sleeves and cuffs.
Self covered buttons were for
cuff links. Her corsage was
orange delight roses and a. yellow
ribbon. Her accessories were
brown.
A smorgasoora uuta.et supper
followed at 5:30 p.m. Felends of
the bride serving were Becky
Nolan, Faye Blake and' Wilma
aWesterweld. A reception follow-
ed:

Mrs. R. S. Hamilton to honour her
on the occasion of her 97th birth-
day.

GEORGE EDWIN. POLLARD
George Edwin Pollard, a former
resident of the Brussels commun-
ity, died Tuesday, October 5th,
at his home in Monkton,
Ile was in his 64.th year.
Tie was horn ig Morris Town-
ship and fumed on the home-
stead until 1950 when he began
a chainsaw business in 'Brussels,
He moved to Monkton in 1906
and was employed as a salesman
for a. farm products company.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Annie Craig of Brussels;
two daughters, Mrs. John (Yvon-
ne) Irvine of London and Brenda.

Kitchener,. and Douglas and Brian
at home. Also surviving are two
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs.
E. (Mary) Hollinger of Fruitland
and Mrs. W. J.' (Mildred) Perrie.

The body rested at the M. T,.
Watts Funeral Home, Brussels,
until Friday when funeral service
was held in St. John's Anglican
Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
K. Stokes officiating. •

Samuel Burgess of Brussele
eased away on Tueday, October
5th in Stratford .General Hospital,
in his 78th year.
Son of the late James Burgess
and Mary Ellen Taman, He was
born in Grey Township where he
farmed for many years before
moving to Blyth where he lived
for 17 years. Seven years ago he
moved back to Brussels where he
retired.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Marie Long; three sisters,
Mrs. Lillian Cox of Wingharn.

of Toronto, Mrs. John (Greta)
Milligan,Of Clifford.
He was predeceased by three
sisters and one brother.
The funeral service, conducted
by Rev. C. A. McCarroll, Was held
from the M. L. Watts Funeral

Forty-one entries participated
in the 7 categories of the Brussele
Recreation Commitee's
Anneal Soap Bex Rodeo, The
crowd on hand witnessed the
twenty-seven races , it took to
decide the winners, There were
only two upsset during the day.
The first one occurred when
Wayne Lowe lost control of his
vehicle. near the finish line and
Mary Tenpas skidded sideways
when she was leaving the ramp.
Both drivers were uninjured.
Many fine vehicles in a variety
at designs were on hand and
obviously a great deal of work
has gone into their construction.
It is anticipated that next year's
rodeo will be held in conjunction
with the centennial celebrations
in. the village, so you can have all
winter to net your vehical per-
fected.
