SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT
TO BE HELD IN BRUSSELS
An Iptermediate Men's Softball
Tournament, sponsored by • Brup-
sels, Morris and Grey Recreation
Committee will be held here on
August 28th and 29th. Teams to
compete from Stratford, WelleslY,
Kurtzville, Kitchener, Thames-
ford, Moncrieff, Exeter, Seaforth,
and two Brussels area teams.
Single elimination tournament.
1st place team will receive $100.
Time of games and further
particulars will be published in
next week's Post.

The regular meeting of the.
Village of Brussels Council was
held ,in the Municipal Office on
August 9th, all .Members being
present.

LEONARD MACHAN
Leonard .Ross Machan passed
away suddenly, in Alexander
General • and Marine Hospital,
Goderich, on Thursday, August
nth, 1971, He was in his 54th
year.
He was a. life-long resident of
this area. Born in Grey Township,
the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Machan, he farmed in the
Moncrieff vicinity. In 1956 he
sold his farm and purchased the
Brussels where he carried on the
Brussels Sher he carried on the
business until he retired in April
of this year. when he sold to the
present owner, Mr. Hoppe.
Mr. Machan served as a
member of the. Brussels Municipal
Council for some time. He was a
member of the Session (elder) of
Brussels United Church, and n
former member of the Brussels
Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Viola Rennick; two sons,
Lester of Toronto and Glen of
Goderich; a grandson. Mark
Jeffrey; a sister, Mrs. Valiance
(Mary) Inglis of Atwood and two
brothers, Earl of Stratford and
Howard of Wingha.m.
Six brothel's predeceased him.

morning, the funeral service was
held • at Brussels United Church
at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. E.

ingway, and Ralph Watson.
Flowers were carried. by Ron
Machan, Don Smith, Kathy Rem

and nephews.

The marriage of Ann. Kathleen
Krauter, daughter OfMr. and Mrs.
J. Calvin Krauter of Brussels and
Joseph Howard Wilson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. L. Wilson: of London,
Ontario, took pins in Melville
Presbyterian Church on August
14, 1971 with Rev. C. A. McCarron
officiating for their double-ring
ceremony. •
Miss Anne 0100W provided
organ music and Miss Linda
Wilson was soloist, singing "Ave
Maria" and "We've Only ,Tust
Begun".
Given in marriage by her father.
the bride chose a floor-length
gown of white lagoda with, high,
neck-line, empire waist and Juliet
sleeves -trimmed with lace and
seed pearls. A detachable train
fell from the neckline and was
trimmed with matcning lace. Her
bouffant elbow-length veil was
attached to her matching Juliet
bonnet. She carried a cascade of
deep pink roses and mineture
white carnations.
Mrs. David Kreuter of Quebec
City was matron of honour and
Mrs. William Barnett of London,
sister of the grooM, and MisS
Janice Carter of Wingham were
bridesmaids. AR the attendants
wore go-wns of deep pink and
white terylene with princes.% lines
and the' back accented with a
pleat and bow of white velvet.

their hair, and carried nosegays
of white roses and minature car-
nations with trailing ivy.
William Barnett of London was
best man, Guests Were ushered by
Lieutenant David ;Kreuter of
Quebec City, brother of the bride,
and Mr. John Wilson, of London.
The reception was hold in the
church parlour. The bride's mother
received the guests wearing a
matching lilac dress and coat.
She wa s. assisted by the groom's
mother who wore 'a pink, .lece-
trimmed ensemble. Both Wore
white gardenia corsages.
Following the Wedding dinner,
guests were entertained at a wine
and cheese party at the home 'of
the bride's parents. For travelling
the bride changed into a blue and
white fortrel hot-pants ensemble.

Mr, and Mrs. Wilson will reside

Mr. Wilson, who it a graduate of
the University of Western Ont-
ario and Aithouse College of Mu•
cation will he teaching at H, Beal

added to the enjoyment of the
menlbers of the Majestic Wom-
en's Institute and their friends
who attended a picnic on the
spacious lawn of the president.

A short business meeting was
conducted by Mrs. Armstrong
assisted by the secretary, Mrs.
Marie .1‘lcCntelteon. A .committee
consistieg of Mrs. Alberta Smith
Mrs. Amy Speir, and Miss Mae
Skelton was appointed to decide
on a money raising project for the
Brussels -Centennial, 1972. A
needlecraft course, with our Insti-
tute as host will be held in Brus-
sels on November 23rd and 24th.
Bluevale and Walton W. is will
participate in. it. Bluevale W. 1.
will hold a course on Parliament-
ary Procedure in November. Any-
one is Weleome to attend • the
Huron County Rally, being held,
in. Ethel on October 4th, Mrs.
Wilma. Heming,•way and Mrs: Cud-
more will be the voting delegates.
Miss N,ancy Adams will be the
leader for the Girls Homemaking
Club "Dairy Fare". Contact Nancy
if you wish to take it.
The relatives and close friends
of the late Mrs. Ida Davis ex-
pressed their appreciation of a
donation from the Institute to the
0110•Pel fund. Mrs. Marie Davis
and. Mrs. Jennie Strachan expres-
sed their thanks for boxes receiv-
ed.
The September meeting is to
have a guest speaker. Mr. Andy
McBride of the Maitland Valley
COnservation Authority.
The roll can was answered by

holidays.
The next part of the meeting
wsa turned over to the committee
consisting of Mrs. Steiss. Miss
Lucas, Mrs. de Vries. Mrs. Arm-
strong and Mrs. McTaggart. Many
games and contests were enjoyed
by those present and prizes given
to the winners. A bOuntiful pot
luck lunch was served by the
hostess, Mrs. Armstrong and her
committee were thanked for the
pleasant afternoon.

was honored at a dinner party at
the home of Miss Anne Oldfield,
Miss Janice Carter assisted the
hostess. Mrs. Douglas Callender
