SCHOOL HELD AT ST. AMBROSE CHURCH Sumtuer School was held at St, Ambrose Church from July 12th to the 23rd, Rev. Sister Mary and Sister Monica from the Mother- house, in London gave their time and talent to teach the children the love of God. There were 28 children in attendance this yew'. Weather was good, teachers were excellent, the children were well behaved. Seven were prepared for their first communion and seven made " their first confession. ,, Fr. M, S. 'Kaminski thanks the parents of these children for being so faithful in getting the children to class on time even though it -was a busy time of year. STEPHENSON FAMILY HOLD PICNIC HERE On Sunday, August 8th, memb- ers of the Stephenson family gathered at the Lions Park in Brussels for their first annual picnic. The weather was favourable and •forty_two members of the family from Stratford, Elmira and Brussels enjoyed games and races for the children and adults. Prizes were awardd for races. ball throwing and various other events. A delicious smorgasbord supper highlighted the day. It was decided that the 1972 picnic would be held at Family Paradise Park on the second Sunday In August. Sports It is hoped that next year's picnic will be enjoyed as much as this one. Mrs. Ada Craig, Miss Ada Craig, Stoney Creek, Aire. Velma, Cook, Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Craig Mary a nd Roger of Blyth, spent first married . to my Great-Grand_ father, Daniel Armstrong No. 2. He died there in Brussels. on July 31, 1866, 1 believe, as they were living there and keeping the North American Hotel in 1865. Their son, my Grandfather, Ben- jamin Hunter Armstrong was horn in 1859 in St. Marys, Ont- ario. Benjamin was their second son, and their fourth. John Henry, was born in Brussels in 1865.. Dr, Alms Graham performed the ceremony, and Mrs. C. W. Lahn of London was soloist. A reception followed ,at the Holiday Inn, Wellington Road South. STILES LORENTZ Mr. and Mrs. Frederick (Ted) Samuel Stilea'' first wedding trip was in old_fashioned style. Follow- ing their marriage Friday, even- ing, July 16th, at. St. Clements RC Church they were driven from the church in a 1921 Model T Ford. It was one of a, cavalcade of cars in the wedding parade after the ceremony. Mr. Stiles, an antique car buff; belongs to a London Antique Ca,' Club and another in, the -United States.. He owns a, 1931 Ford De7 Luxe coupe complete with rumble seat, which was driven in the cavalcade by Gerard Lorentz of Bloomingdale, Other cars belong- ing, to wedding guests, incleded 1.928 Ford Coach and a 1928 Ford Cavalero. Rev. Jerry Stilson of St. Louis RC Parish. Waterloo, officiated for• the ceremony. A receptiOn was held at Lin:, woodCommunity Centre, then the couple left for a honeytMon in the Bahamas. They will live at 122 Lois St. Kitchener. The bride, the former Shirley Theresa. Lorentz, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Clarence Henry Lorentz of St, Clemetts. The bridegroom, of Guelph, is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Stiles of Brussel$, Mrs. Brian (Megan of Walker- ton, the bride's sister, was matron of honor. Ala Jacobs, whose father was saddle maker, is an experienced harness maker, and repairs binder canvass and tarps etc., as well as shoes and harness. Later he will have for sale his own handmade 'leather articles such as handbags. He is Married and with his wife, Joan. son Roy (7i and daughter Wa.neta, (5) will take up residence in Brussels in the near future in the home purchased from. Alvin McLellan. Mr. Jacobs raises registered Pintos of which he has four. Mr. and. Mrs. Pegelow will con_ tinue to make their home in Brus- sels where he has been in bus- iness since he took over the Shoe and Harness repair shop' from Mr. Stevens 22 years ago _last January.
