doubt about their strength and.
useability replace them,
Correct distribution. p.r the load
is the answer to preventing sway
and baying the comfort and
safety of a straight-running
trailer. The Ontario Safety
League advises that 10 to 15 per
cent of the load should be on -the
tongue and hitch. In other words,
when carrying a' load of 1000
pounds would require a -lift of
over 100 pounds to hitch the
trailer to the car. Then plug in
the lights and make sure they, are
all working; stop, turn .and•
license plate illuminated. •
The Ontario Safety suggests a
safety check before each trip to
ensure trouble-free trailering.

GOLDEN WORDS
THE ART OF COOKING
Cooking has become an art, a
noble science; good cooks
are gentle women.
We may live without friends,
We live without books,
lint civilized man cannot live
without cooks.
A Proud woman is like an egg.
An egg i s so fine of itself there
is no room for anything else.
A cheerful look makes a dish a
feast.
Cakes and friends. we should
choose .with care.
Not always . the fanciest cake
that's there .
Is the. best •to eat! And the
plainest friend
Is sometimes the finest one in
the end.
Do your work with your whole
• heart,
And you will succeed, there ie so
little competition

"RECREATION TIPS"
"A. sure. sign ,of summer is the.
number Of • trailered ;Measure
boats on highways leading to
Ontaries vacation . -lands-. The
degree of safety with 'Which a •
boat is being hauled is fairly well
indicatedliY 'the" steadiness of, the
• trailer on the road. A weaving
trailer is a sure sign of trouble.
• The Ontario Safety League
emphasizes the need for proper
maintenance and loading for safe
operation. Wheel bearings should
be checked, greased and replaced,
if necessary, at the beginning of
the season. Go over the frame of
the trailer carefully to make sure
that all fastenings are tight. In.
spect the hit,ch tighten fastenings
on the car frame and be sure the
safety chains are in useable con-
dition. Do not use a bumper hitch.
It is unsafe for boat hauling. Tires
shoup he given special attention,
replaced if there are signs of
weakness, and keep well inflated.
60 pounds pressure is advisable
for the average boat trailer.
The • Ontario Safety League
Stresses the importance. of prop-
erly fitting the boat to the trailer
bed. Supports should be ,.adjasted
so the pressure is equal at all
points on the hull • making
shadow-tight fit. The winch rope
and tie-downs• are two important
items for the security of your
