'TILL 10.00 P.M. AWARDS DAY HELD AT GREY CENTRAL SCHOOL The annual Awards day of Grey Central School was held in the school gymnasium on June 29th. Robert Livermore, physical education instructor of the school was the master of ceremonies. The awards of the June 11th Track and Field Day were pre- sented with trophies going to the top boy and girl in each category and runners-up with five points or more received ambers. Winners: Junior Girls: Barbara Cameron; runners-up, Gloria Elliott, Kim Jacklin, Cathy Moneschansker, Karen Bremner. Intermediate Girls: Annalee Stevenson runners, Nellie Tim merman, Dina Devries, Betty Bradshaw, Mary Ellen. Knight, Lynn Cameron, Linda Lake. Senior Girls: Frances Blake; runners-up, Rosemary Fischer, Linda Smith, Diane Stevenson;. Debra Bateman, Joanne McLean, Joanne Weber, Dorothy 13ones- chansker, Karen Dilworth; Junior Boys: Bruce Cox; run- ners-up, Leslie Stephenson, Bruce Armstrong, Chad Ward, Stephen Guest, Mark Sproule, Brian Deitner Intermediate Boys: Doug Guy; runners-up, Larry Fischer, Jim Cox, Monty Engel, David Brown, Senior ,Boys: Doug Conley; runners-up, Leslie Smith, Paul Beirnes, Ed Miller, Murray Arm- strong, Bill Pearson. Many of these Grey Central athletes were competitors in the elementary meet. held June 24th, with five schools participating at the F, E, Madill Secondary School, Wingham. Grey Central was the second highest scoring school with oh am Leen ship s Senior Girl, Rosemary Fischer; Senior Boy; Doug Conley. Intermediate Girl, Annalee Stevenson. Miss Jan Thomas; Kindergarten 'teacher, presented ribbons to first, second and third, place wip- ers at the Kindergarten Play Day. Winners in the following events were: Kick the slipper, Sharon Smith, Steven Gulutzen, Mary Jane Kuepfer, John Blok. Foot race, Linda Blake, Kevin Deitner, Kathy Deitner, Kevin Pennington. Back to back race, Linda Blake and Carla Knight, Kevin Deitner and Kevin Armstrong, Kathy Deitner and Joan Cardiff, Murray Hall and Kevin Pennington. Wheelbarrow race, Betty Ann Blake and Susan Hickton, David Wernham and Bruce Bones- chansker, Carol Harrison and Tracy Engel, David van Veen and Steven Bathwell. Kick the ball, Linda Blake, Douglas Nicholson, doan Cardiff, Douglas van Veen. A silver dollar and ribbon were presented to individual high scor- ers including kindergarten and grade one s tudents: Yvonne Blake, runners-up, Carla Knight Sharen Smith; Kevin Deitner, runner-up, Donald Campbell. Mr. Livermore made the pre- sentation. of more than 100 arin- bars to the winners of the intra- mural sports during the year, as follows: Boys' soccer, Team Three; Boys' Newcomb Ball, Team Four; Boys', sideline basketball, Team Four; Senior Boys' floor h ockey, Team Four; Junor boys' floor hockey, Team Three; Boys' soft ball, the Tigers; Girls' softball, the Chalks; Girls' volleyball, Team Five, 35 squad champs were also honored. Trophies, this year for the first time, were presented to the top girl and boy athlete of the year. winners were chosen for their consistency and improvement during the entire year in all the athletic events. Frances Blake received the girl's trophy pre- sented by Mrs. Doris Mulligan and Doug Conley the boys' trophy by Mr. Livermore. Those who had perfect attend- ance during the past school year were honored by the principal, .Taines Axtmann. They were: Jeffrey Knight, Scott Cardiff; Shelley Triebner, Ernest Nolan, Wendy Barlow, Grant Jolly, Cindy Evans, Kevin Johnston, Maurice BPirnes, Darlene Baillie, Tammie Guest, Perry Clark, Barbara Brad- shaw, Robert Campbell, Kim San- burn, James 13rubacker, Leslie Stephenson, Donald Armstrong, Lillian. Bailie, Betty Bradshaw, Monty Engel, Joanne McLean, Kathy Ward, Robbie Smith, Les- lie Smith, Phyllis Keffer, Karen Dilworth, Murray Armstrong, and Diana Adamson. Six of the teach- ing staff were also included, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. MoNair, Mrs. Dil- worth, Mr. Axtma,nn, Mr. Liver- more. The 56 kindergarten graduation certificates were given out on June 30, when both Kindergarten classes were present the closing day of school. Mr. Axtmann was presented with two plaques by Mr. Liver- more, honoring this year's Track and Field champions. These to be mounted on the wall with the plaques of previous years.
