tion:
1. That. ecology of the Middle
'Maitland has been almost de-
stroyed.
2. That the polluted area now
extends almost to the mouth of
the river, as evidenced by com-
plaints by people in the Auburn
and Benmiller area.
3. That this pollation Will soon
reflect in the condition of the
beaches. of Lake Huron adjacent
to the river mouth
That the pollution of the
river has destroyed the yaltte of
its scenic shores.
5, That the drinking of the
polluted water by livestock has
(=sea enormoas direct cash
losses to the fanners on the
river,
8. That farmers are being
forced to fence their cattle from
the stream to prevent their
drinking the polluted water • on
the advice of the OWRC.
7. That swimming ,and boat-
ing have heen rendered impos-
sible and dangerous because of.
the polluted water.
8. That the development of a
unique island retreat area has
been arrested and will remain so
until the condition in the river
has been restored.
9. That the pollution of the
river has nullified efforts by the
government to help a designated
slow growth area.
Suggested Action
To remedy the situation, aa-

ListoWel lagoon be immediately-
