DEBRIS CLEARED FROM
MAITLAND RIVER HERE
At least a partial clean-up of
the Maitland has been going on
here this week.
A bulldozer has been engaged
in scrapping the debris frOm the
river, from below the dam as far
a5 the property of Hank TenPas
at the west end of Mill Street.
The dead trees on the river
banks have been cut and burned
and the banks cleaned up.
The work is being done'as
project of the Provincial Mimic
hen Employment Incentive Pro-
gram 1971. through the Teepee-
ment of. Municipal Affairs. It is
financed 100 per Cent by them up
to $1.00 per capita.
It is a. pleasure to see the water
flowing free of obstruction. There
hive been many favourable com-
ments by the public on the work
aecompliebed.
Now, if the fight being Waged
by the "eeee the Maitlaiid" grout)
is successful and the pollutioa
stooped, our river may again be
"a beauty to behold",
