Thursday, evenin 10th. at eight o'clock. Mrs. Gudmore, vice president, -opened the meeting with the usualte opening exercises followed by h minutes of the 30y meeting, 'fill- ancial statement and correspond- ence by Mrs. Marie McCutcheon. An invitiation from Blyth W. I. asking us to attend their meeting on July 7 at S pan. was read. Achievement Day for the 4-H boinemaking club girls' course "Separates for Summer" is to be held at Howick Central School on June 26 at 1:15 P.M. Anyone is Welcome to attend. Mention was Made of the purchasing of the Erland Lee Homestead by the F.W.I.O. A deftatien of '81.0 is to be given to the t4adie.s' Division of the Fall Pair to be used for 4-H Club Girls' prizes. Three dollars -is to be sent as a birthday gift for the Adopted Child in Bong Kong, A picnic at the home of the president, Mrs. Leona Armstrong in August was chosen in place of a bus trip. Mrs. de Vries, Mrs. Steiss and Mrs. MeTaggart offered to help with this. Members were asked to keep pictures and clippings of interest to -Brussels and bring them to the -meetings. They will be kept in a 'book to be used later in the Tweedsmuir History. They were to be thinking of ways and means to raise money in the Brussels Centennial Year, 1972. A successful House and. Coffee Party was held on Wednesday-, June 9th and Mrs. Cudmore ex- pressed thanks to all the ladies who helped to make this such a success. The meeting was then conduct- ed by Mrs. Marie McTaggart, one Convener of Education who com- mented that education is much in the news to-day. With Mrs. Marie McCutcheon at the piano a numb- er of old time songs such as School Days were sung by all present. A poem written by Harvey Sparling of Gorrie on his daughter Jean's recent retirement from -many years of teaching, was read by Mrs. McTaggart, The roll call was "what has become of the school you went go" Most of the schools have been said and remodelled into dwelling places, some have been demolish- ed and a, few are still in use as schools. The sehOol where Mrs. Turvey went, was bought by her father and made into a house, west of Leadbury, She- mar- rled in this house.
