APPLICATIONS"
The Maituand Valley Conser-
vation Authority is participating
in the Province of Ontario Project
SWEEP (Students Working in an
Environmental Enhancement Pro-
gram).
Students 18 years of age and
over from both high school and
post secondary levels will he em-
ployed this summer in the clean
ing up of roadsides, lake shore
and river bank litter problems and
in improvements to local Censer,
ration areas.
The 37 Conservation Authorities
Ontario expect to hire a total
of some 1000 students tor vatying
periods of time, Another 1000 will.
be hired by the Ontario Depart,
ments of Lauds and Forests for
similar work,
The work being done by the
Conservation Autherities in Proj-
ect SWEEP is being funded and
co-ordinated by the Province
through the DepartMent of Energy
and Resources ManageMent.
Project SWEEP' has been hilts
fated by the Province and is being
operated by the Conservation
Authorities in answer to the
growing concern for our landscape
and the present prohlem, of
student unemployment, This pro.

determined, Seaforth fire depart-
ment answered the call but the
fi re was too far advanced to save
